Yoga views the mind and the body as one entity, and believes that if it is given the right yoga tools and taken to the right environment, it can find harmony and heal itself. Yoga therefore is considered therapeutic. Yoga takes many forms, and offers many health benefits; I concentrate on gentle and therapeutic yoga.
I have always been interested in the therapeutic aspects of yoga and how it helps maintain health and aid recovery from various conditions and illnesses. I am drawn to yoga because it addresses our whole being and was developed to provide harmony of the mind, spirit and body. My interest in yoga started over 20 years ago when I was looking for ways to cope with a stressful job and for help in recovering from serious illness.
My gentle and therapeutic yoga classes incorporate breathing and relaxation techniques with the gentle movement of yoga postures. Therefore, relaxation, de-stressing and gentle stretching are outcomes you can expect. This is not a strong physical workout. All classes are suitable for beginners, those who do not want a strenuous class and for postnatal mothers.
I teach one-to-one yoga tuition privately to people who wish to incorporate yoga into their daily lives, to those who feel that their schedule does not allow them to attend a class regularly, and for those where yoga therapy will be beneficial to alleviate health problems such as lower back pain, high blood pressure and cancer.
