We are a caring primary school based on the south side of Ashbourne, with a teacher-led Nursery and 'enhanced resource' provision, which means we can support children with disabilities and high level needs. We teach children aged 3-11 and offer on-site wrap-around care from 7.30am until 6pm, which is provided by The Mulberry Bush.
We believe that every child who attends our school has their own brilliance and it is our responsibility and privilege to enable them to find and develop their talent. Our site has a large amount of outdoor space for the children to play and learn in. We currently offer Forest School sessions to our Nursery and Reception children and plan to expand this to other year groups.

Services
During the first half of 2021, we consulted with pupils, families, staff and governors, to develop this new mission statement, vision and values. These will form the basis of our continual drive for improvement and are at the core of everything we do. We will enable every pupil to become happy, secure, enthusiastic life-long learners who can experience and celebrate personal success.
At Ashbourne Hilltop, we view History not only as simple facts and dates but encourage pupils to become detectives who explore the past in an exciting way. History is taught through a cross-curricular based approach and gives pupils a chance to explore a wide range of sources from which the past comes alive.
Our wonderful school is known for its inclusive ethos and caring approach. All children are supported with their individual needs and interests, encouraging them to flourish into the fantastic life-long learners that each of our young people have the potential to become. In fact, many of these improvements are already underway.
All schools in England have a Governing Body which is responsible for overseeing many of the strategic decisions of the school. A key role is to act as a 'critical friend': to support, to challenge, to ask questions and ultimately to represent the school community. The Governing Body works in close partnership with the Head Teacher, staff and the local authority.
At Ashbourne Hilltop School, we're fully committed to making sure children are safe, both at school and at home. We work hard to create an environment where children feel safe; where children, parents/carers and staff can talk about any safeguarding concerns, knowing they will be listened to.
We follow the advice provided by statutory bodies, agencies and authorities, for example the Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and the Local Authority. We are registered to receive safeguarding updates, ensuring we stay aware of current trends and issues. We work alongside supporting agencies in a number of ways.
