Coppice Valley Primary School
Coppice Valley is a unique school - a peaceful oasis of nature, quiet and calm, safely tucked away from the main roads. We are Harrogate's hidden gem, having a large playing field, wildlife area and meadow. Our vision is to create learners for life - children who are enthused with a love for learning. This all begins in the haven of nature we have on our doorstep, here at Coppice Valley. We are proud to be an academy school, part of the Red Kite Learning Trust.
Services
The governing body of Coppice Valley is comprised of up to 9 members; the head teacher, a staff governor, 2 parent governors, 2 trust appointed and 3 co-opted members. We are proud members of the National Governance Association and support their #Visible Governance Campaign. Parent governors are elected by the parent body (if more parents put themselves forward than there are positions available).
We work closely with our local high schools throughout the whole year. This includes visits to school by high school bands, year 7 tutor visits and the headteacher assemblies. Pupil leaders from the local secondaries help out at our events such as sports days. Our pupils go on to many local schools - Harrogate Grammar School, Rossett High School, Harrogate High School, St Aidans, St John Fisher, King James' and Nidderdale High School.
Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet. For over 25 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag award.
Remember, if you have any questions you can email our class email - oak@cvps.rklt.co.uk or contact us via Tapestry. Please ensure your child has a spare set of clothes, waterproofs and wellies, bookbag and water bottle in school everyday. The curriculum in Oak Class is delivered through a balance of adult led and child led learning.
We have amazing outdoor space at the back of our school, including a wildlife and relaxation area. This video features our Headteacher, Mrs Meadus, and our Deputy Headteacher, Mr Cawte, explaining our school vision and curriculum. You can see footage of our school and ground, plus some of our parents talking about why they chose Coppice Valley for their pupils.

My little boy started in Reception in September, I was so nervous about him starting as he is a July baby and seemed too young and he had recently been unsettled at nursery after some changes just when he was beginning to transition, which was such bad timing. I am delighted that he has settled in so quickly and LOVES school. All the teachers have… been fantastic supporting him, he has grown so much in confidence and is thriving. Jamie is happiest outside so Coppice is perfect for him, surrounded by playing fields and with a nature reserve, they get out as much as possible. He is comfier

Coppice valley has the most amazing team - they are dedicated, fun and most importantly they really care about each individual child. My eldest child is about to leave Coppice and they have helped him grow into a confident and happy young man who is ready to move onto the next stage in his education. I cannot recommend this school enough - they want your children to be more than just great learners, they help them grow as people, encourage them to think about about the wider world and the community around them. Big thumbs up for Coppice!

My children joined Coppice Valley just over 2 weeks ago and are thriving. The school ethos and atmosphere is amazing and we could not be happier that our children are part of this community. We could not recommend Coppice Valley Primary School enough.
