Highfield offers a superb educational environment with facilities that include extensive, secure grounds incorporating a conservation area and a sports field and ample play time space. We recognise the importance of the role of the school in the community in creating a partnership between children, the parents, the staff and local residents.
We endeavour to provide a happy, caring and secure environment in which the provision of a quality programme of educational experiences enables each child to achieve his or her potential. I hope this website will provide some ideas of what we hope to achieve and invite you to come and see for yourself.

Highfield Primary school lays the foundations for life by offering a rich enjoyable and fulfilling experience for all its pupils. It is characterised by a broad and balanced, creatively delivered curriculum facilitated by high standards in literacy, numeracy and science. We aim to prepare our children to be citizens of the future - promoting wellbeing through safe, healthy lifestyles and nurturing respect of self and others.
At Highfield we believe that every child has the right to equality of outcome and to achieve their full potential. In order to achieve equity we embrace the principles of fairness, social justice, inclusion, global citizenship and community cohesion. We welcome our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010.
Highfield Primary School has an inclusive ethos and works in partnership with children, parents and other agencies (at the request of school) to provide the best possible educational outcomes. We have high expectations of all our children and put support in place at the earliest possible stage where needed.
Children in Reception, years 1 and 2 who display good manners are chosen to eat at The Golden Table with Mrs Colley every fortnight. Childen in Years 3 and 4 earn stamps for good behaviour which result in bronze, silver and gold certificates. Throughout the school children learn about anti bullying and e-safety.
Every parent has a vested interest in their child's reading as it holds the key to other areas of learning and life. This interest is heightened when we hear in the press about the decline in reading standards. As a result every parent wants to know how their child is doing with their reading and whether their child has read today or not.
