Holy Cross Catholic Primary School
Holy Cross is a Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School for boys and girls and it also includes a part time nursery. It was founded by the La Sainte Union order who remain its trustees. Our school is Christ-centred and based on Gospel values. Our aim is to address both the spiritual and academic needs of the children in our care and provide them with the opportunities necessary to develop all aspects of their personality and being.

We believe that every child has the right to the best possible education that we can provide. We recognise that children will have differing abilities and will learn in different ways. Holy Cross is a Catholic School which seeks to build a closer partnership with parents, the parish and the wider community.
Services
Effective governance provides strategic direction and control to schools. It creates robust accountability, oversight and assurance for their educational and financial performance and is ambitious for all children and young people to achieve the very best outcomes. Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
The Governors have overall responsibility for the school and are representative of the community in which it is based. They have a responsibility to uphold the Catholic ethos of the school, with additional responsibilities for the curriculum, for premises and finance.

Our Foundation Governors are appointed by the La Sainte Union Sisters; the Local Education Authority nominate a representative, and the remaining Governors are elected by the teaching staff and parents. The Head of School is also a Governor. They are an active and dedicated group whose wisdom, guidance and hard work are given voluntarily throughout the year for the benefit of our children.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding. The pupil premium is an allocation of funding provided to schools to support children who may be vulnerable to underachievement. The amount received is dependent on the number of children who are known to be eligible for free school meals or have been eligible for free school meals in the last 6 years.
Assessment is free from bias towards factors that are not relevant to what the assessment. Assessment places achievement in context against nationally standardised criteria and expected standards. Assessment embodies, through objective criteria, a pathway of progress and development for every child.
At Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, writing is a crucial part of our curriculum. All children from Foundation Stage to Year 6 are provided with many opportunities to develop and apply their writing skills across the curriculum. Our intention is for pupils to be able to plan, revise and evaluate their writing.

I went to Holy Cross for six years it was an amazing experience. I am terribly sad I left but I hope it will still continue to be a good educational school.

I love that my children feel safe and happy at Holy Cross. There is a culture of high achievement, respect and love for others. My children see the world as a beautiful place and the school provides an environment that supports this. SAT results are great and their is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on bullying.

This school encourages all to have respect for each individual, to be honest, tolerant, just and forgiving, and it develops children to have a closer relationship with each other and through that a closer relationship with God.
