St Mary's is a Catholic school built primarily for the education of Catholic children. We have a long and historic connection with our parish church 'Our Lady Star of the Sea' and with the Sisters of Mercy, whose Convent adjoins the school and who built the original school in 1887. We are an open and welcoming school community. We recognise that our young people are made in the image of God and as such we work closely with our parents/carers and the Parish, to teach and instil the Christian values.

Through worship and the development of spirituality and community life, we aim to enable the children to appreciate and respect themselves, their world and the beliefs and cultures of others. To provide a curriculum that will develop the full potential of each person and educate the whole child in an environment, which encourages growth in self confidence and the acquisition of skills, attitudes and values.

The Local Governing Committee at St. Mary's is, like most Governing Committees, with volunteers drawn from three discreet groups who bring to the school a range of skills and expertise to assist in its governance. The structure of the Local Governing Committee is made up of Foundation Governors, elected by the Diocese of Brentwood, Parent Governor, elected by parents, Staff Governor, elected by staff; this also includes the Headteacher.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium funding, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and children who are not eligible for FSM by ensuring that the funding to tackle this disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it.
A child or young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. At St Mary's Catholic Primary School we are committed to ensuring all children make good progress at our school. We provide support for children with a range of Special Educational Needs.

It's a very decent school, some of their food is disgusting (my opinion) there is football and teachers all care about your progress and some teachers are fun and funny and all the teachers can always do fun activities every month and also the holidays are too short, we also have fun after school clubs, have fun if your coming to this school I would say 8/10.

This school is not the best. They take some of the charity funds to build another extension to the school and demolishing a playground for a parking lot, but they give your child a letter to take home saying that your child needs to bring into school:
-pens
-paper
-and other basic equipment that they cannot fund
