Services
As qualified opticians, we've been part of Northwood's community for more than 60 years. The business was started by Mr Lamerton and Mr Stubbs at 65a Green Lane in Northwood, just after the end of the Second World War. Over time, the business changed hands several times, but we've always kept our Lamertons' name.
We're a friendly team of skilled optical professions who have all worked in eyecare for many years. We work as a team to meet your specific needs and give your eyes the best possible care. We're also a very settled team: our managing director, Richard is the son of our founder, Alison Kennedy and has more 25 years' experience as a dispensing optician.
Our Northwood and Rickmansworth practices offer some of the most sophisticated testing facilities currently available. This allows us to provide a complete range of eye tests from the traditional sight test to the extremely detailed 3D imaging for your eyes. We've invested heavily in technology: our OCT (optical coherence tomography) scanner produces extremely detailed cross-section images of your retina.
Eyewear is as much about your personal style and fashion, as it is about having the best vision possible. We understand that you want the best vision possible and that your frames and lenses suit you perfectly. To make sure we can offer you the widest choice possible, we now stock more than 1500 different frames as standard.
Comfortable, easy to use and perfect if you don't want to wear glasses, contact lenses are all about fashion and lifestyle choices. We understand this and can offer contact lenses for virtually every prescription. We provide lenses that correct many sight problems including astigmatism and we offer varifocal and bifocal versions.

First time customer to this company and very disappointed. After reading other reviews I also feel justified in leaving a negative review.
I found the staff unprofessional.
The manager Richard who I relied on to get a professional service was intimidating, lacking interest and communication regarding the fitting of my glasses. Furthermore I paid for designer glasses and case. The case that the glasses arrived in was admired by this manager and myself however when I left the shop my glasses case had been swapped to an advertising case for Lamertons.
I queried this the following morning by visiting

I've been going to Lamertons for many years. I don't see well out of my left eye since birth. Their regular checks are amazing, friendly and thorough. I buy my contact lens from them. The contacts arrive quickly, are absolutely fantastic and it's lovely to have a break from glasses. But. the glasses they sell are beautiful. All the staff are very friendly, if a contact breaks, they go to a lot of trouble for a fast replacement. I feel very fortunate to be a customer there and always made very welcome.

The albino manager (i didn't get his name) has a very aggressive manner. A very loud voice which is the opposite of relaxing for the customer. Very "in-your-face" and a feel of self-importance.
The lady on reception was nice (Leanne) but the manager made a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Perhaps he was having a bad day? I know we all do sometimes but when paying a premium price you expect a premium service. I hope that the manager can learn from Leanne's customer care skills.

Amazing service. I have come here since I was a child and, over 20 years later, I still travel back for appointments for both glasses and contact lenses. The professional service is fantastic - from the thoroughness of the tests to the personal help choosing frames. Cannot recommend highly enough. Worth the journey every time!

I have recently been to Lamertons for an eye test and some new glasses and I cannot thank the team enough, or recommend them highly enough.
First class customer service, extremely professional approach by an intelligent, personable and highly trained team of staff.
I have returned now for my 3rd set of glasses, the choice of frames and sheer variety of their service offer sets them apart for me, but, a coffee, a smile and intelligent personable interaction by a team of smiling professionals ticks every box for me.

The best opticians I have ever visited. Their knowledge is incredible, they even have diagnostic equipment that some hospitals don’t have.
As well as glasses, contact lenses and sunglasses they also specialise in Eye Dream contact lenses. You wear them overnight, take them out in the morning and can see all day - incredible!
