Services
As you make your way inside via the local timber and glass porch you will find a quintessentially English pub bar, the countertop of which is made from old pennies and dates back to Valentine's Day 1971. Our passionate kitchen team at The Dundas Arms is dedicated to producing well thought-out, seasonal menus, that make the most of the wonderful produce available from the surrounding rivers, farms and fields that champions our British heritage.
Our inn is home to eight stunning, newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms decorated in a gorgeous country house style with luxury white linens and well-appointed bathrooms complete with vegan and environmentally friendly British bath & body products. Five riverside en-suite rooms, each featuring a private terrace allow you to sit with a cup of Nespresso coffee and enjoy the canal's array of wildlife.
Whether you are looking to hold a business meeting, dinner party or a riverside wedding, we can cater to suit your individual needs. Tucked away at the back of the property to give maximum privacy is our private dining room and terrace boasting uninterrupted views of the River Kennett & Dundas garden.
Although the exact origin of The Dundas Arms remains somewhat of a mystery, this Grade II listed Georgian inn has most likely been providing sustenance to hungry and thirsty travellers in the picturesque village of Kintbury since the end of the 18th century. It was in 1794 that the first "Navvies", as they were called, began the construction of the Kennet & Avon Canal - the only waterway to link London via the Thames with Bristol in the West.
Serving Dundas Arms takeaway to Kintbury and the surrounding West Berkshire areas. The tasty pub classics, you have come to know and love at the Dundas Arms, available to take away with safe collection. We've got pies, fish & chips, burgers, the Great British roast, weekly-changing specials and much more.

I've always enjoyed this pub before it got franchised out as it's location is right on the canal in Kintbury. Since it's much needed renovation which massively improved it made it a much better place for the local community to meet. The food has always been consistent but over priced for what it is but on a special occasion like Christmas worthwhile. Unfortunately the service and tastes weren't so great on this visit but we did have a very festive time all the same, thank you and I look forward to returning another time.

Nice place between Newbury and Hungerford, good access from M4. Food was good, menu quite foody, no sandwiches, but good starter options if you fancy something smaller. Went in the winter, but outside looked fab, right by canal and with some cute outside booths. Lots of different rooms inside, one with a lovely fire. Staff were v pleasant and friendly but some TBH looked like they were off to a club! Think they need a slightly better dress code for the staff. Don't mean to sound old and grumpy but I think a bit more respect to customers paying a fair bit might be appropriate. Don't get me wrong

Not for people of non White origin. Definitely felt tense especially in the pub area. The manager/owner also seemed like he rather not have us there. We are a middle aged non white couple
Anyone who is not white should avoid this place as seems to be 50 years back on race education.

Visited on Saturday 11th with friends for dinner. It wasn't an ideal experience.
Shannon, the manager was excellent and thankfully took over looking after us, but the rest of the staff were better than okay so that was fine.
I loved the garden and the efforts they've put into that, and could well imagine that a lunch there would be fine, but the interior of the restaurant could have been a little cleaner (window sills were grubby etc).
My food was fine (main course was bubble &squeak) but the plaice ordered by two of the ladies was overcooked.

Excellent pub:
The garden is large and tastefully modern with the river Kennet running past on both sides. Staff are friendly and the online ordering system is really easy.
The food however has slightly dropped in standard. The steaks regularly come over done and the burgers are frozen. A shame really considering people have been waiting an age to dine out and there are plenty of other places doing food properly.

Quality Inn … strongly recommend. Good online booking facility, confirmation and reminders. Lovely high quality food and very welcoming and friendly. Special mention to our waitress India for her very attentive service. Lovely setting and good parking for a canal walk to Hungerford.

On Wednesday, a group of 8 of us stopped here for a drink after a day on one of the canal boats. The Dundas Arms is a nice looking pub, although we sat in the garden, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Our waitress was delightful and could not not have been more helpful. Her attentive service perfectly rounded off a lovely day. Thank you.

We booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary, Saturday, 21st Aug. I must say the welcome we received was very poor almost none exsistant. Not a good start to our planned celebration. No smiles, kind words or hellos.
My hubby used this initial experience as a mission to get the staff to respond to us & by the end of our visit things improved slightly. The food was nice - not a great deal of choice on the menu but all things considered we understand that. Can we suggest that your staff have a bit of a nudge regarding customer service? We are out of area and, yes, wanted a lovely time.

Lovely setting but a pity they insist you use the app to order in the garden. Luckily one of us had a bank card to enter manual details in their app. Delivery time was much quicker for both food and drink than the 25mins the app predicted! Adding a tip to the bill before I've had ANY service seems a bit much, but luckily it can be removed. Garden wildlife was interesting too.

This is your quintessential British pub. On a small river with ducks floating by. In the summer I love sitting outside on the water with a beer. Food is great inside and surprisingly fine dining for the British countryside, with a nice fire to sit by beforehand.

Nice pub along the canal in Kintbury, was nice to stop for a quick cider besides the canal. Very good prices too and good selection!
