Services
Founded in 1934, Parker & Hammond Opticians actually began its story a decade earlier when Sydney Parker established a pharmacy in South Harrow. A trained chemist, he qualified as an optician in 1931, incorporating an optical practice into his pharmacy three years later. Starting as a family practice, the welcoming service and level of care that Sydney sought to provide has prevailed over the years.
Combining innovative technology with our clinical expertise, we provide comprehensive examinations that deliver clear results about the health and condition of your eyes. Depending on your needs and concerns, we will use the latest advancements in optometric technology where necessary, tailoring our services to the level of care you require.
HEALTH - This relates to the medical condition of your eyes and whether there are any underlying problems. FOCUS - Checking the accuracy of your focusing, muscle balance and coordination, which is determined by how well the mechanics of your eyes work. The health and focus of your eyes are not necessarily linked, but our core test delivers insights into the state of each and enables us to determine how to improve their overall working condition.
Gone are the days of 'one-size-fits-all' spectacle lenses - technology has advanced, and lenses can now be tailored to perfectly fit your needs. How effective your lenses are depends upon a number of factors, including how your frames fit your face shape and how your ear positioning impacts the angle of inclination.
Located inside and to the back of the eye, the retina can reveal early warning signs of serious conditions including macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, retinal and vitreous detachments and even cancer. Our Optomap ultra-wide digital retinal imaging system forms part of our enhanced eye examination, and helps us assess the overall health of your eyes.
