St Bede's R C Primary School

In this section you will find information on how we run our school including our current staffing structure, governing body and our school policies. At St Bede's we are one big happy family, looking after and caring for everyone. We value each child for their individuality and strive to help them become they very best that they can.

St Bede's Catholic Primary School is part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust. The purpose of St Bede's school is to lead children to that place within them that only God can fill. We believe the development of the child's self-esteem is paramount to their growth as a fully Christian person.

At Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust we recognise that each individual member of our community is created in God's image with unique talents and abilities. We nurture each person through loving relationships and rich daily experiences centred on the teachings of Christ. We believe that humanity is a gift that we receive through others and that our relationships unlock the unique potential in each person.

Governors work closely with headteachers, school staff and representatives from the Trust. Governors play an important part in raising standards for children. Their role is key to the effectiveness of the school and Ofsted judge this when inspecting the school. It is the job of the governors to appoint the head teacher and deputy head teacher.

St Bede's Partnership is made up of 10 Catholic primary schools to the north and west of Durham City and within the City itself. We, each of us, take great care and pride in providing a high quality, solid foundation for the development of student teachers. We are supported by, and quality controlled by, the Carmel Teacher Training Partnership (CTTP).
