Springvale Primary School
Headteacher of this wonderful learning community! It is a school to be proud of and one where we all believe that we should come to school to 'play together, learn together and achieve together.' We currently serve 212 full-time pupils and their wonderful, supportive families as well as 21 Nursery students.

We are based on the edge of Penistone, a semi-rural town on the outskirts of Barnsley and Sheffield. We are very proud of our community and we work closely with the families and businesses in the area to ensure that, not only is school thriving and successful, but the whole area is too! Our curriculum is incredibly exciting and broad.
Services
Springvale is committed to promoting high standards of academic achievement for all learners in all subjects. As a school we will continue to develop and instil key life skills and values in our pupils. We will encourage positive relationships and communications between home, our community and the wider world.
Over the last two years, Springvale has been working hard to promote active and sustainable travel. We have worked closely with Modeshift STARS and were awarded our bronze award at the end of last year. This year we're hoping to achieve our silver award! Check out this useful travel guide to help you plan your route.
Our Governors meet regularly and many visit school during the day to support the work of school leaders or to help in class, during visits or at special events. Two of our Governors are linked directly to the Parent Council, a further group of representative parents, who provide vital, regular and constructive feedback to school leaders.
Here at Springvale Primary we expect every stakeholder to take safety and safeguarding very seriously. We have key policies and systems in place to support our children and to ensure that they can feel safe, supported and happy in our school environment.

We have several child-friendly mechanisms for sharing concerns (including worry monsters, a buddy bench and our older pupils act as wellbeing leaders or sports leaders) as well as a pastoral care leader who can give children quality time, should it be required. We also have a School Counsellor called Sonia who visits us each month to work with children and/or parents where needed.
Our Parent Council are in regular communication with the School's leadership team offering constructive criticism about school policy, systems, communication and events. We pride ourselves on being a 'listening school' who take an active role in forging superb links with children and their families.

My grandson is a pupil and gets involved in all activities at the school - all the staff are superb and deserve commendation for their enthusiasm and endeavours to educate the students. The headmaster is a star!
