Westways is a large three-form entry school in a popular residential area close to the city's hospitals and universities. You will find us welcoming, friendly and fun. We have three separate Victorian buildings providing lots of space to learn. Our Early Years Foundation Stage Nursery and Reception classes are in the Warwick building including an outdoor learning area with lots of activities.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), ages 5 to 7, are in Mona building. Our school kitchen, where meals are cooked on site is in this building and a large hall space where lunches are served for the whole school. Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6), ages 8 to 11, are in the Western building.

Services
At Westways it is important that pupils learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment without fear of being bullied. Bullying is anti-social and unacceptable behaviour and affects everyone. Bullying happens in all parts of society; good schools acknowledge this and at Westways we seek to be pro-active in addressing the issue.
The DfE have recently reinforced the need 'to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.' At Westways Primary School these values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways.
Our curriculum is designed to promote the development of the whole child and equip children with core skills so that they become fluent and enthusiastic readers and mathematicians from an early age. We want our children to appreciate and understand cultural diversity in their own community and beyond so that they can learn to live harmoniously in a diverse world.
The general guideline is that children dress in practical clothes and shoes that are comfortable and easy for them to manage. We have no formal dress code at the moment however if you want your child to wear a school uniform they can be purchased from local supermarkets/high street stores. We recommend a navy blue sweatshirt/jumper and white polo shirt, dark trousers or skirt (black or grey), or a dark dress (navy, black or grey).
All children in our Nursery and Reception classes develop knowledge and skills to support each individual child's development pathway from 'Development Matters' found in the statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets standards for the learning and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

An amazing school in a lovely area of Sheffield. This school supported me with my Autism before I left in July, 2014. The staff are wonderful, and the head teacher and the senior staff on a whole are very welcoming and amazing. The school on a whole is improving, but like every school in this country, there's always room for improvements!
