Athelstan Primary School
Please take extra care whilst travelling as there are roadworks on the approach to school. Athelstan is a three-form entry primary school, set in extensive grounds. As well as having multiple playgrounds and a huge playing field, we also have a number of stunning outdoor learning areas, including the Enchanted Garden and Creation Station, where pupils are able to take part in 'Forest School' activities.

Our pride and joy is 'Buster', an actual double decker London bus, who sits in the playground, having been lovingly converted into a library for our pupils to enjoy. Athelstan is proud to have achieved a number of quality marks, including the Primary Science Gold Mark, the Gold Sports' Mark and the Silver Arts' Mark, which recognises the high quality of our provision in the Arts.
Services
I am very proud to be the head teacher of our wonderfully diverse and vibrant school community, which we refer to as 'Team Athelstan'. Everyone who works in our school values the whole school community and has a genuine team spirit. We work collaboratively for all our pupils to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens, who will thrive in whatever path they choose in the future.
Build a strong sense of community where children and adults work together to help one another learn and improve. Further develop our long term, sustainable relationships with partners - by using our combined experience and expertise to strengthen leadership and governance and raise standards.

The Trust has a Board of Trustees consisting of the Headteachers and Chair of Governors from each of the member schools, chaired by Andy Wynne, Chair of Governors at Ballifield Primary School. The Trustees meet formally once per term. The Heads also meet regularly to discuss ways that all three schools can work together, to plan the Trust's activities and to monitor progress.
Through our curriculum, our children will develop an increasing repertoire of skills and explore concepts via enquiry-based questioning. There will be strong emphasis on knowledge and vocabulary acquisition in each aspect of learning. This increasingly sophisticated knowledge base will enable children to make connections across individual subjects and the whole curriculum to lead future learning.
Our Office Manager, Rachel Stone, is the main point of contact for queries from parents and carers and other members of the public. Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Fiona Barry, can be contacted on the main school phone number above or by email using fbarry@athelstan.sheffield.sch.uk.
If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below. Children are admitted into school full time, during the year in which they have their 5th birthday. Admissions to Athelstan are under the control of the Local Education Authority and we follow their admissions policy.

My son went to this school , worse mistake I did was let my child go here, I had nothing but problems with this school, teachers was dragging my son upsetting him all time to the point that he started to refused to go . They was always going on about his work how it wasn’t good enough
I ended up taking him out in middle of year 3 and putting him in woodthorpe primary school
Best thing I ever did , he’s come on a lot better he gets up with no problem and enjoys going .
His work is amazing and had a lot of help when needed .
But Athelstan is the worse ever.
