As historians, we aim to provide history lessons that inspire children to want to know more about the past and to think and act as historians. History teaches our pupils how to learn from the mistakes of others, promoting lifelong skills of resilience and perseverance. They develop a cultural awareness of the lives of others of different times and places, promoting equality for all.
We know and understand the history as a coherent, chronological narrative, from the earliest times to the present day: focused on how people's lives have shaped this nation and how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world. We develop articulacy by building historically grounded understanding of historical terms.

Services
We are a small school but there is usually someone in the office to take your call - usually Mrs Wakerley or Mr Beahan. If you have a query, it is best to get in touch with school in the morning. However, if there is no-one available please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Our governing body is made up of nine Governors, including the Headteacher and is supported by a clerk. They come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have a variety of skills. It is a credit to this school and to the local community that we have such a strong body of support and challenge for Curbar Primary School.
It is important that committee roles are clearly defined and understood and I hope that the following summaries are of some help to those considering joining the committee. Committee members meet once every half term for committee meetings as well as attending the Annual General Meeting. It is helpful but not essential that committee members attend every meeting.
Registration this year is taking place through AV Timing- there will be no postal entries accepted. Runners must arrive on the start line by 9.45am so we can complete a briefing, headcount and kit checks as appropriate. For any reason you decide to not take part after you have registered please inform organisers ASAP.
Here's a remainder of some of the exciting things the Pupil Parliament helped organise last year! They asked children to: donate 1 to wear spots/bright clothes; bring spare change to take part in a lunchtime 'Hook a Duck' competition; bring homemade cakes to sell at an after school 'Cake Sale'. All children will also complete a friendship survey (as will parents).
