May I take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our Renishaw Primary School website. The staff, governors and I hope this will mark the beginning of a long and happy relationship with us, whether you are visiting as a guest or you and your child is already with us. We believe that it is vitally important that we recreate the security, care and understanding that you give your child at home.
We also firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school, and regard you as an active partner in our school's development and value your interest and support in moving the school forward. At Renishaw Primary School we have approx 200 students on roll ranging from age 3-11, every child is as important as the next.

We don't view History as simply facts and dates, but see it as a chance to become a detective and explore the past in an exciting way. History allows our children to compare and contrast, to examine how and why things have changed, to learn about historical characters and expand their research skills and gives the children a chance to explore a wide range of sources from which the past may come alive.
The Nurture Group is run by Miss Dawn Ford and is a nurturing environment in which children who need some additional support, join a small group within the school setting. The staff are specially trained to support children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Nurture Group offers a warm and structured environment, where children are encouraged to develop fine manipulative skills, confidence and learn good behaviour.
Renishaw Primary School has a strong history of paying our respects to our fallen heroes. The memories of those fallen in the battle are kept alive by our annual memorial service at the village war memorial. This year marked the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice.
We have built on previous work with the History Van to understand how village life was impacted by the first world war and to add to our memorial bench and ceramic poppy the children have created a fitting, beautiful poppy memorial currently sweeping across our school gates.Well what can I say, what a fantastic day we had.

In Nursery before school closed we began incubating some eggs. We learnt about different animals that hatch from eggs such as spiders, crocodiles, ducks, chickens and caterpillars. We learnt how caterpillars hatch from a tiny egg, grow bigger, spin a cocoon, then eventually turn into a beautiful butterfly.
In Year One we are running a balanced curriculum with continuous provision to ensure that the transition from Reception to Year One can be as smooth as possible. The provision in the classroom will be changed weekly to follow children's interests and support the topic that is being taught. There will be phonics, English, maths and science challenges for children to access independently.
