Moss Hey Primary School
I am delighted to be the headteacher of Moss Hey Primary School, which is a single form entry school set in extensive grounds. Moss Hey is a family, we have an amazing team of adults who work closely with the children and their parents to ensure that each and every child has a first class educational experience.

At Moss Hey we are very proud of our creative curriculum and our Golden Thread values which is at the heart of everything we do. Adults and children join together to learn, discover talents and enjoy new experiences. We help each other to find new friends, to develop new enthusiasms and make lasting memories.
Services
Welcome to Reception's page where you can find out about all the exciting things that we get up to! In Reception, we create a stimulating environment that allows the children to become independent and resilient learners. Personal and social development is a significant part of the children's time in Reception and during their first year of school, we strive to inspire a love of learning that will continue throughout their time at Moss Hey!
In Year 2, the children are working towards becoming confident, fluent readers, who show a good understanding of the texts they read. Please read 10 minutes every day and make a comment in the reading journal. Indoor P.E shall be on a Thursday afternoon and children will need shorts and T-shirt for this activity.
This term we will be developing our historical enquiry skills and investigating the changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. In Year 3, the children are continuing to work towards becoming confident, fluent readers, who show a good understanding of the texts they read. Please read for 15 minutes every day and make a comment in the reading journal.
In the Autumn term we will be asking 'What made the Ancient Greeks so important to the world?' in our topic of Ancient Greece and how they have influenced the world around us. We will find out about Greek Gods and their powers, the legacies that the Ancient Greeks have left and why they are still so well known.
Below is a brief overview of the exciting creative themes we will be investigating this year. There are also a few 'housekeeping' reminders. In autumn we will be investigating 'Who got what in the struggle for England'. This history topic will allow the children to investigate the period in British history around 500AD to 1066AD - The period when the Roman's left Britain right up to The Battle of Hastings.

Our 3 sons have all attended Moss Hey Primary over the past 12 years. It's a lovely, caring school, with high expectations of children and they communicate well with parents. All the staff - reception, teachers, lunch staff, the Head, are approachable and helpful. We will miss Moss Hey!
