Centre Pilates St Albans
I've been teaching Pilates in St Albans since 2006 having trained with the Pilates Foundation in London. I teach group classes to clients of all ages and abilities and individuals on a one to one basis, usually at the person's home, workplace or online. Classes are professional, friendly and welcoming and kept small so that I can give clients individual attention.

Classes are grouped according to ability and clients' goals, so please do contact me to establish the best class for you. The benefits of pilates are numerous and, if performed correctly, will benefit strength, posture, balance and coordination and lead to reduced aches and pains. This strong, balanced body aids everyday life and all forms of sport, allowing appropriate muscles to be recruited and therefore the risk of injury reduced.
Services
Pilates takes its name from Joseph Pilates who was born in Dusseldorf in 1880. Pilates called his technique 'Controlology' - only later did it become known by his own surname. He conceived it as a mental as well as a physical conditioning in which individuals could work their bodies to their full potential.
Existing clients have priority to renew for the following term, subject to receiving payment by the last class of the previous term. Group classes cost 12 per session (but only 10 while on Zoom) and clients book termly in advance (usually approximately 6 weeks). Catch-up classes are usually available should you be unable to attend your usual class (subject to a minimum of 24 hours notice of absence).
One to one, or one to two pilates classes in St Albans might be the perfect option for you if you need to fit in your exercise around other commitments. The session format and the exercises are tailored to meet your specific needs. This type of lesson allows for greater progression and can be exceptionally beneficial to anyone requiring individual attention for a particular issue.
I find Holly's Pilates classes enjoyable and extremely beneficial. Holly is clearly an experienced and talented teacher who makes the sessions both fun and a challenge. She explains why we are doing certain exercises and clearly keeps up to date with new developments. She is patient and kind with us all and, although we are in a group, she attends to everyone's individual needs with great care and thought.

I've been going to Holly's classes for longer than I dare think about and quite honestly they get better and better. An excellent teacher, welcoming environment and really focused exercises.

Other Pilates classes can be too big and just monotonous - not Holly's. Groups are small enough for Holly to be able to make sure each exercise is suitably tailored to meet individual needs, plus each week she changes the routine, both by varying the equipment and introducing new exercises. Holly's got deep knowledge of how our bodies work and what each exercise is doing - and her pupils are living proof how effective her tuition is!

I've been doing Pilates in St Albans with Holly for years. She's a great teacher and really welcoming, she's always coming up with new exercises to challenge us and I really like the way she tells us the muscles we're trying to target - as sometimes in Pilates the exercises are so precise you have to engage your brain!
