Whatever level of fitness, irrespective of age, The Pilates Lab is here to help you! Beginners will learn the basics of pilates including correct breathing, pelvic, spinal and shoulder stabilisation and how to strengthen the abdominals, back and leg muscles. During the pilates classes you are taught good movement skills step by step, which will ultimately give you the strength and flexibility to perform the more complex exercises.

As Pilates is a continual learning process, more challenging exercises will gradually be introduced as you progress on to the intermediate and advanced level of the more classical matwork. Don't forget 80% of the UK population has or has had backache. Pilates success rate in solving problems has brought it to the attention of osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and doctors.

Pilates is a body conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. It works by building strength from inside out! One is encouraged to breathe more efficiently by breathing laterally into the lower ribcage. The creation of a 'Girdle of Strength' targeting the deep 'Core' postural muscles that stabilise the torso is one of the primary aims and correcting imbalances bringing the body into correct alignment.
I started in the fitness industry in the late 1980's running my own studio in Hampstead, London. Teaching aerobics, step, body conditioning and in later years the ever popular body pump! You might think that I was super fit teaching full time - but in fact deep within I was completely unfit due to lack of core strength.

I found Marina after the first lockdown, when I realized that lack of movement in my desk based job was wrecking my physical well-being. I have not been disappointed. Each class is dedicated to restoring the right curvature of your spine and I always leave better than when I arrived. The exercise stations are well placed, all the equipment is available and Marina's eagle eyes will not let you slack off! Just bring yourself and a winning attitude.

I have enjoyed the benefit of both Marina's physical and zoom classes. I signed up because of back and shoulder issues and can testify that I feel so much better now! Every class is different depending on the needs and the level of the participants. Marina always offers alternatives to make the same exercise harder or easier for individuals. If you want improved core-strength, posture, muscle tone and flexibility, I recommend you try Marina.

I would recommend the Pilates Lab, Marina is an excellent teacher with high standards. Marina individualises her teaching depending upon abilities. I have been attending her classes for many years; my posture and body has benefitted from her classes. If I miss a week I definitely notice the difference.

Marina is a great teacher. The classes are small and their size allows her to pay close attention to your posture. They are also well structured and the exercises vary according to the needs to the class. The hour goes quickly and I always feel taller and fitter at the end.

I have been attending the Pilates Lab for some years now and it has done me world of good. I suffer from slipped discs that actually needed surgery; however, the exercises have helped me cope really well. I can definitely recommend this gym.

Marina is a fantastic pilates teacher. Marina runs excellent small group classes, she provides simpler and more complex variations of an exercise so she is able to cater for all ability levels. She provides invaluable one to one support during the classes ensuring every person has the right posture and is doing the exercise correctly. Going to the gym is great, going for a run feels good but attending pilates class is a whole new level of an experience. Marina is the best teacher, not only does she teaches you new techniques but she teaches you how to be more aware of you own body. So it is not just 60 min class, it is a lifetime knowladge which you incorporate into your day-to-day life. My body has totally transformed since I have started, I managed to run half-marathon and yes, training was important but the classes played a massive role. Marina is an amazing pilates instructor. Doing pilates each week has improved my posture and taught me more about taking care of my body in general. Even during group lessons she takes care to instruct everyone if needed. I would highly recommend her!

Marina is very experienced and caring as a Pilates teacher. We are encouraged to push ourselves but have options explained for when we need something less challenging. I've been going to Marina at the Pilates Lab for over 5 years and I really enjoy the classes. They are kept small (no more than 8) which means she can make sure everyone's bodies are always in the right position and help people accordingly. I find the exercises aren't too easy but also push you and make you feel like you've worked your muscles and core by the end of it. It is so good for posture, balance and toning muscles. She is encouraging and I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't tried Pilates classes before.
