Located in the village of Hamworthy on the edge of Poole the Yachtsman is one of only ten pubs in the UK with the same name. A perfect example of a friendly, quality English village pub that we all know and love, we're dog friendly as every great pub should be, with a large garden, roaring log fires, flagstone floors and oak beams, it's cosy in the winter and glorious in the summer.

Services
We've been working hard over the past few months to make sure all of our delicious food dishes are just that little bit better. As well as our usual favourites like Steak & Tangle Foot Pie, Hand-Battered Fish & Chips and our famous H&W Burger, we've also got a range of tasty sandwiches and of course our delicious Sunday Roasts, which we think are the best (apart from Mum's!).
We've scoured the world to find the best drinks available including our very own range of Badger beers, which have been brewed in the heart of the Dorset countryside since 1777 and are only sold in Hall & Woodhouse pubs. There's also lagers and wines from around the world, refreshing ciders, soft drinks and an ever increasing range of spirits, particularly local and regional gins.
One of the delights of the perfect English Country pub is that it is at the heart of its community a place where people can come together. That's why we believe it's so important for us to give something back to our local community. Below are just a couple of things we do to help out in some small way.
Head East on Napier Road, heading straight over two roundabouts, then continue onto Lake Drive and you will see us on your right. Take the A350 out of Poole heading towards Hamworthy and Upton. Take the left hand turn onto Ashmore Avenue, Ashmore Avenue turns slightly right and becomes Lulworth Avenue.

We were told about this pub prior to coming on holiday. We decided to try it for Sunday lunch. We had an absolutely fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive. My husband tried and really liked the local lager. The food was hot, really well cooked and there was plenty of it. I was glad to see social distancing still in place as it made me feel less anxious in light of the rising COVID rates. I would definitely recommend this pub. Well done.

This is a really nice pub. Traditional looking pub on the inside with large beer garden outdoors. Staff are always friendly & helpful. Good local beers and high quality food. Hot drinks available. Car park available. Dog friendly. A good local pub which although popular doesn't get too noisy so good for catching up on conversation with friends & family.

First visit whilst staying in the area. Easily accommodated 8 of us including dogs as pre booked. Good service and helpful friendly staff. Food was good quality however portions could have been slightly larger. The chain bridge in children's play area was taped off as broken which I would expect a pub chain to have contractor repair immediately especially as school summer holidays.
Overall good experience and well worth a visit.
