Situated in stunning heathland at the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, the Halfway Inn is the meet point between the historic market town of Wareham, and William the Conqueror's Corfe Castle. The Halfway Inn is well known for its warm, dog-friendly hospitality and quality fresh food offer. The pub itself dates back to the 16th century and was originally used as a thatched-roof-farmhouse.
Several original features remain including wattle and daub walls and flagstone floors. The Halfway continues to ooze character with log burning fires, a spacious garden room and traditional Dorset ales on tap. This rural gem must be visited to truly be appreciated - we warmly welcome you! There will be an open sided marquee to provide some shelter in case of inclement weather, but not all tables will be covered.

Friendly staff, beer on tap a bit limited, but good - the Badger was spot on.
Drinks arrived very promptly.
Sadly, the food is not that good, but in these trying times, forgivable.
I hope on a future visit, the food quality is bumped up, but to be honest, if it's a lovely sunny day, worth a pop in for a drink.
We enjoyed the drinks and chatting with the staff, so all good.

I've been several time to this quaint and slightly out of the way gem before. 99% of the time it has been excellent. Great food at reasonable prices. I did notice the cost of our visit was noticeably up the last visit. I'm presuming this was due to covid so not really a surprise. One slight criticism was the steak I ordered medium rare, turned out to be very rare. Apart from that it was another great visit.
