Ickwell Pre-school is a well established, rurally located village pre-school, accommodated within Ickwell village hall. Our children have access to two large and well equipped play rooms, an enclosed outdoor play area with safety surface and an excellent range of open ended resources and equipment.
We have a nature garden with a pond and wormery, our children can play in the large mud kitchen, storytelling area or build dens. Situated adjacent to the village green we also have open access to natural green space and local woodland. As a setting we pride ourselves in providing good quality education and care for all our children, within a safe, caring and happy learning environment.

Services
Ickwell Pre-school opened in 1963 and runs from the Ickwell Village Hall which is located in idyllic surroundings overlooking the village green. The children have access to two large main playrooms and an enclosed outside play area, with a safety surface. Ickwell Pre-school provides good quality education and care for pre-school children between the ages of approximately 2 years and 5 years old.
Level 3 diploma for the children and young peoples workforce: Early Learning and Childcare Pathway. Every child has a key person who is responsible for settling the child into the setting, ensuring the child's learning and development is progressing, their needs and interests are met and ensuring these are incorporated into the planning and their 'next steps' are recorded.
Each child will have their own named coat peg and on arrival be encouraged to find their name and put it up on our registration board. The children then have access to the two inside rooms where a range of activities are available, e.g. Throughout the year we look at different themes, topics and celebrations and where possible we will try to offer the children hand on experiences.
The Government provides 15 hours free funding for every child following their third birthday and under certain parent criteria offer 30 hours free funding. Eligible 2 year olds can access their 2 year funding the term following their second birthday, your childs second birthday must fall on or before the dates as set out above to qualify, and should complete 3 terms (or less if they access the place later).
The Act promotes the participation of parents, children and young people in the decision making, and requires a joint approach across all agencies; education, health and social care.
