The Bathwick Boatman
Just ten minutes stroll from Bath City Centre, the Bathwick Boatman overlooks one of the prettiest reaches of the River Avon. Perched above Bath's historic boating station, this old rowing clubhouse is a charming place to enjoy lunch or dinner. The Bathwick Boatman offers a deliciously simple and rustic menu made with the freshest produce on the market.

Everything is freshly prepared on the premises and the dishes reflect a love of robust earthy flavours. A magical place to make memories - the most wonderful weddings and special occasions have been celebrated here over the years. The restaurant space can be booked, along with covered terrace overlooking the river.

We had an evening meal in the Bathwick boatman after many recommendations. It did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant is small and cosy but the tables are set out so that you have space and feel comfortable. The food was delicious and menu wasn't too big but had a well rounded choice. Highly recommend. Thank you

We've just been for Sunday lunch. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The venue itself is nice and cosy. What really made it stand out though was the staff. From the email to book through to all the staff on duty, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Thank you all. Highly recommended.

Such an amazing place to eat! We went here for an anniversary and we weren't disappointed. Friendly staff, great food and a 5 star view of the river. My partner was offered a blanket as the evening drew in, which was a nice touch as we were outside. Will definitely be back again, hopefully for the Sunday roast!

Excellants food and outstanding service!
We asked if we could seated early as we expected to be done with our walk by 11:30 a.m., and they accommodated us. We had a pleasant table on the balcony overlooking the river. We watched boaters rowing by and enjoyed the noises if the water fowl. When 12 noon arrived we ordered food and enjoyed outstanding lunch. The starters, the mains and the desserts were all top-flight. The staff allowed us to have a nice leisurely lunch.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Definitely off the beaten path like others have said. Great atmosphere, but had a few issues including getting a good table even though I had a reservation because everything was allegedly reserved but the place was basically
Empty. They finally moved me to a better table when people did not show but it seemed odd. The Serivce is friendly but extremely slow with servers hardly ever checking in on you. I ordered soup as a starter which took at least 40 mins to arrive, and a pasta dish that didn't show until over an hour later. I felt older by the minute

The food is great. Location is amazing as it's next to a river. But our experience was spoilt by the level of service. We were served by a very arrogant server who put us down several times. We were never served water. He never asked us for drinks or house bread. When I asked him to bring the wine menu, he never brought it to us. All he cared for was warning our kids to keep the volume down because there were guests on other tables who didn't like the noise. Turns out our kids immediately tuned down, however, other tables were actually much noisier than ours. We almost wanted to walk

We were expecting a good restaurant because of the reviews but instead we got a great restaurant. The setting is amazing, situated above a small river, where people come to rent small boats. We sat on the terrace overlooking the river and it was perfect. The food was so creatively prepared, the spicing perfect and the service, mostly by the owner, was exceptional. My friend had the soup special - sweet potato with coconut milk, spiced with a bit of a kick. His entree was Hotpot of mushrooms, chestnuts, and root vegetables, a tarragon & cheddar crumble, cheddar and spring onions mashed

Amazing food and phenomenal service. The price does not match neither the service nor the food, in that everything on the menu is a bargain for it's quality.

Lovely riverside eatery just outside of Bath, located secretly at the end of a residential street. It's all wood, windows and twinkly lights, with laid-back friendly service. It was quite a cold day when we visited, but I can imagine the balcony on a warm summer evening would be very pleasant indeed, overlooking the river with a glass of rose and a big wholesome salad.

Excellent location. Great for a summer's evening (or lunch) with lovely views of the River. Ambience slightly rustic but fits well with the location. Service incredibly friendly and food style goodish gastro pub food. Slightly off the beaten track but you can access it by boat & car.
