Welcome to Oswald Medical Centre, providing primary care for Accrington and surrounding areas. We hope you take your time to browse our website where you will find lots of useful information about the surgery and the services we offer. Our Practice is spread over 3 separate sites and patients can access services from any site depending on their needs.

How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment? Our new Accrington Branch is now open. Total triage still applies but you can pop in to drop off prescription requests or if you have a confirmed appointment.
Services
As you may know, we have been consulting with patients for the last couple of years around our planned move to a new main surgery in Accrington. The change will see our Myrtle House branch close which is just a short walk or drive from our new site. As sad as we are that Myrtle House will close we also know that our patients need a deserve a better venue for their treatment and care.
Many patients find that having access to online services helps provide a quick and convenient way of managing their healthcare. As a practice we encourage all suitable patients to make full use of the apps where possible rather than telephoning the surgery to help keep our lines free for those who need to speak with us urgently.
The practice is promoting the use of digital services to help maximise infection control and to improve convenience for patients and to help keep everyone safe. We aim to reduce unnecessary contact between patients and staff wherever possible, but rest assured, our branches are open. Digital services are offered to improve convenience for patients and to help keep everyone safe.
Triage is a term used to describe how Primary Care Services have been mandated to operate on a national basis. Use our smart telephone system to cancel appointments if they are no longer needed (all you need is a telephone with a key pad - this includes home landline telephones).

Almost all appointments with the Healthcare Assistants and Nurses are face to face (the exception is a telephone follow up where the nurses wishes to speak with you following your review, test or other procedure). Some patients are given automatic face to face appointments with the GP / ANP at the point of speaking with our Care Navigators.
The Practice adheres to the East Lancashire Medicines Management Board self care policy and does not prescribe medicines which are available to buy over the counter for self limiting conditions - ie those which will get better on their own. For advice on a range of minor ailments and how and where to get help, please see the NHS website for more information.
