As the Headteacher of Herbert Thompson Primary School, I thank you for visiting our school website and am delighted to introduce you to our school. Herbert Thompson is a large primary school on the west side of Cardiff, meeting the needs of children of all abilities aged 4-11. We have a Flying Start provision on site, which caters for children aged 2-3.

We believe in a world where all members of the Herbert Thompson community live with positive values and behaviours and have the aspirations and skills to lead happy and successful futures. Respect/Barch - We listen to each other and treat everyone the way we would like to be treated;keeping hands, feet and unkind words to ourselves.
We have a special team here at Herbert Thompson, a team of hardworking, nurturing and enthusiastic individuals that work together to ensure every child thrives. Each member of staff plays an important role enabling the school to operate on a daily basis. Here at Herbert Thompson we are committed to ensuring that all staff reflect on and improve their practice through professional learning. Our approach to Professional Learning follows the National Vision whereby we are working towards building capacity amongst leaders and skills that will enable staff to be successful in creating a new curriculum for our pupils and community.
We understand that some of our children and families may have had traumatic or adverse childhood experiences and we know that these can have a negative impact upon a child's learning, behaviour and their relationships in school. It is our intention, here at Herbert Thompson Primary, to lessen the impact of ACEs wherever possible through carefully planned interventions, family support and signposting to other agencies that can help.

Absolutely awful school. The head teacher is running it into the ground. Bring back the old head teacher! She doesn't care about the children and neither do the rest of the staff. Allows bullying to go on but chases the kids with behaviour problems around the playground. Moved my kids as a result. Don't let me get started on the dinner ladies. They employ the chavvy mums who can't even look after their own kids.
