St Paul's C Of E
Children, staff and parents are all proud to be part of the St. Paul's family so, whether you are a prospective or current parent, a pupil at the school, or just interested in what we do, please enjoy looking round and finding out more about us. St. Paul's School was founded in 1860. After many changes over the years, our current building is a blend of the original Victorian schoolhouse with a substantial new area completed in 2002.

We have a number of specialist rooms, including a music/drama room, a pupil kitchen and ICT suite. We are five minutes' walk from Dorking High Street, yet our extensive grounds adjoin the Glory Woods. We have the feel of a village school in the heart of a town. We have a highly motivated, committed and talented team of teachers and support staff, who look to bring out the best in every child.
Services
We are a happy, vibrant two form primary school not far from the centre of Dorking, with 420 children from Reception to Year 6. We are fortunate to have a great, enthusiastic and dynamic team of staff who are passionate about learning and helping children to flourish. We have high expectations for one another and have a caring, inclusive philosophy.
Our school aim is to ensure that we consistently provide an environment which inspires learning and nurtures wholeness. In all we do and say, we support one another to be successful in applying the school values outlined below. Because we believe that God helps us to grow, especially through challenges, we value perseverance.
We believe learning should be fun and creative. We follow the National Curriculum and have very high standards of achievement and pupil progress. We aim to bring the curriculum alive by linking subjects into themes, where appropriate. Pupils' attitudes to learning are positive and their behaviour is excellent.
To find out about topics and units studied in each year, have a look at the curriculum overviews and outlines on our Year Group pages. In terms of assessment we use material developed by Surrey, refined and adapted for our children.

It works on a principle of splitting the end-of-year expectations laid down by the new National Curriculum into categories- based on whether a child is developing towards these expectations, or has reached them ('expected') and has a mastery of all the skills they have learnt, in different contexts.Children who are above the expected level then work to add greater depth and breadth to their learning before moving onto the next year's curriculum.
Applications for places in Reception each year should be made to Surrey County Council. Places are allocated in accordance with our current Admissions Policy, available for download below, which has details of our over subscription criteria which apply if we receive applications for more than the 60 places we can currently offer in each year group.
