Eye examinations are a minimum of 30 minutes. Our Optometrists will use advanced equipment to conduct all tests needed to monitor ongoing health of your eyes, and to identify the prescription you need to give you the best possible vision. There is also plenty of time to talk through any concerns you may have about your eyes, and for your Optometrist to talk through each stage of the examination.
Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT) devices are already in use in hospital eye departments, but are at present seldom available at your local Opticians. We are delighted to be one of the few high street opticians to offer the OCT scan at our Devizes practice. The OCT represents the very latest technology in eye health.
We know how important it is for your glasses not only to give you great vision, but to look good, and be comfortable to wear. That's why at Nixon and Shaw Opticians your glasses are only dispensed by Optometrists or qualified Dispensing Opticians, who are expert in helping you choose a frame which both suits your face, and your spectacle prescription, and any specific requirements, (eg computer use, sports, or other hobbies.)
Due to advances in the manufacture of contact lenses, almost anyone is suitable for contact lens wear, and can enjoy the freedom from wearing glasses on a daily basis. Contact lenses are also now available for people who have a high level of astigmatism in their spectacle prescription, who may have previously been told that they cannot wear contact lenses.
