Dury and Tippett's owners - Steve Dury and Helen Tippett - have worked as a team for 28 years. Helen joined the practice in 1992, when it was known by its original name Dury and Shaw, and became a full partner in the newly renamed Dury and Tippett in 2005. Several years ago Steve and Helen doubled the size of the practice to allow room for the Style Zone, the jukebox and all the quirky individual features you'll see in there today.
Using an incredible 45 million reference points it allows precise manufacture and positioning of ZEISS advanced digital freeform lenses in a spectacle frame. Increased precision translates into enhanced standards of vision. Steve Dury FBDO (Foundation Fellow) has been dispensing ZEISS lenses since 1968 and considers them to be the very finest available.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of sight loss in the UK. It affects the central vision and can make seeing fine detail like reading difficult or impossible. The new spectacle lens called E-scoop has offered hope for those whose sight has deteriorated through this condition (or other macular diseases).

After care service appalling. Spent over £1,000 on 2 pairs of Lindberg spectacles and when I returned recently to have a nose pad replaced was first of asked abruptly did I purchase from them and then told I would have to leave them and they would be done when they got around to it. To cap it all was asked to sign a disclaimer in case they damaged them - a push fit nose pad! Didn't even ask the cost as I took them back and had it replaced immediately at another optician. Would never set foot in the place again - shop locally, what a joke!

Rude unhelpful!
I phoned as I needed a new pair of glasses ASAP first person I spoke to didn’t know how to answer my query and was on her own so would get someone to phone me back.
I was called the next day she had not been explained my situation. When I tried to explain she was rude and condescending. Basically they couldn’t help as they won’t sell just frames for you to take elsewhere to get glazed.
I had planned to take to 1 hour turnaround at specsavers but wanted the same frames I had got from them before. Didn’t think there would be a problem.

My elderly mother went to this place, she said never again, Steve was very rude, and suggested that my mother had sat on her glasses, believe me, if my mother sat on her glasses, they would not survive.Her glasses have never fitted properly and my mother will not go back because of the service from Steve, his loss, Specsavers bonus. Keep up the good work Steve.

Ignore the negative reviews, this optician is one of the best on the planet. Don't want to pay their prices ? Then go to a cheap chain but bear in mind u get what u pay for. I have a very difficult sight correction and they are the only optician that has got it right. Another optician beginning with B were useless too by the way.

I have been so impressed with Dury and Tippett. I collected my glasses from them last week and was amazed by the range of stock, the fitting equipment and the helpful staff, absolutely no pressure selling whatsoever. A week later and my 1 year old had bent them completely out of shape (will teach me for leaving them in his reach) but the team at Dury and Tippett have repaired them and asked that rather than paying them I donate money to Guide Dogs Charity. 100% recommend.
