The Canary & Linnet
First time here glad we went for a meal here fantastic food the lamb shank best I've had everything beautifully cooked to perfection owners were really friendly and immediately made us feel at home at this little gem. Was easy place to drive past but so glad we didn't. A friendly family pub located directly on the A47 between Dereham and Swaffham.

The Canary & Linnet has a rich and interesting history. The name derives from the nicknames of Norwich City and Kings Lynn Football Clubs being that the pub is half way between the two. Visit The Canary and Linnet and enjoy great food and a variety of refreshing drinks with your family and friends.
Services
The Chequers has since returned to being a private dwelling. Morgan's Brewery applied for the change of licence, and at first this was apposed by Fransham Parish Council. They eventually granted the licence providing certain conditions were met including the instillation of toilets!

The original house (rumour suggests that it was originally an undertakers) was to become the pub and the building next door (originally a blacksmiths) was to become a cafe/club room. The new pub was given the nicknames of two local football teams as it lies exactly half way between Norwich and Kings Lynn.

Booked here for a family meal for 9. Everyone enjoyed their meal which was very reasonably priced and good quality. All served in quick succession so no one had to wait while others already eating. Landlord very attentive, happy to chat, but equally happy to leave us to our meal. Will definitely be going back. I have to say am a little baffled by those that have left a low score, you must have just been unlucky or expect the moon on a stick. Would urge others to give it a try and make up your own mind. 9 of use certainly don't think you will be disappointed.

Three of us enjoyed an absolutely fabulous, home-cooked meal tonight. Two lamb shanks and a braised steak and three amazing desserts. Finished off with coffee and all served with a friendly, chatty but non-intrusive barman. Lovely evening.

Loved the Peacock and her baby. But that was the most disgusting cup of coffee I've ever been sold. Was going to book a meal but that put me right off.

Whilst I appreciate the hospitality industry really has suffered, this was total rip off. Unlike their website menu where a burger came with chips and trimmings, my burger literally came on a side plate and nothing else. Poor quality burger and soft baps from a supermarket with bacon and egg for and a bowl of chips with couple of onion rings cost nearly £15.00 Always happy to pay top dollar for quality but resent paying a premium for such poor quality.

Really nice ambiance, a nice place to take your girlfriend or boyfriend for a nice meal. Theres a pool table and even a challenger machine if your just there for fun. Good food too, for the price you pay it's well worth it, and when it says homemade it really is homemade. Definitely will go back there.

Very well organised to keep distancing and a one way system. Made to feel very welcome and lovely food despite the reduced menu!

Great place! Most places are shut on a Monday but this place was so welcoming. Dog friendly and even made bangers and mash for our two rescues! Would definitely return food and staff were lovely

If you havn't yet tried the Canary & Linnet since Mark and Marcie have taken over, you are missing a treat. It has a revamp inside and a good value excellent varied menu. Having had a few disappointing meals there in the past, yesterday's was a treat. we will definately be back soon to try something else on the menu. Such good value too.

I needed somewhere to dine after a day out, only problem I have is 4 dogs, I rang the establishment a few days before and the answer was yes, no problem, table was booked for 5.30 Saturday afternoon, our day finished a bit early so we arrived about one and a half hours before, this was not a problem, we had a few drinks before the meal. Food was very good, staff were excellent and the owners very accommodating for our dogs. Would highly recommend the Canary and Linnet, will definitely be going back.

Having been out all day on a 200 mile round ride my friend and I must of been a sight. (Try riding a motorbike and not get covered in bugs)
We had been turned away from an empty steak house who clearly didnt want us and we were starving.
The staff here welcomed us and despite the now late hour they were not only willing to do food but could still do a roast.
Seated in a very comfy dining room that made you feel miles from the main road and attended by friendly staff.
There is something to be said about places that have a friendly/relaxed atmosphere, it runs off on customers and those that are
