Great beer, fantastic food, relaxed and comfortable suroundings. The Murderers freehouse dates back to 1530 and is one of the last family owned public houses in Norwich City Centre kept in traditional state and full of nooks 'n' cranies. Officially known as The Gardeners Arms, it incorporates the Murderers Caf Bar.
The Murderers is the pubs nickname - when you visit, just ask why or watch this video made by the BBC about the pub's history. We are proud to serve the best in local Real Ale and it's not just us that think The Murderers is a great place to spend a few hours. We have won numerous awards for both the quality of our beer and for the friendly welcome you will receive.

Services
There are tales of two murders in The Murderers' grisly and macabre history. Philip Cutter discovered that the name, previously thought to be a reference to a murder committed by a prostitute, actually related to another crime. He found out the real murder was perpetrated by an ex-cavalryman who killed his estranged wife, Mildred (Millie).
We don't show the best sports around, we show the best sports in the best pub with the best atmosphere in entire UK!. 'The Murderers' received National recognition at The Morning Advertisers, Great British Pub Awards 2015, winning the Best Sports Pub catagory. We have multiple large screen TV's all around the pub and some are even equipped with 4K Technology.
Above all, what really make a great pub is great beer. At The Murderers we take time to select the very best beers, from local brewers as well as many small independant breweries from across the UK, who we know have a passion for producing the very best beers. In turn we look after all our ales with the greatest of care ensuring the taste and temperature is optimum for your enjoyment.

Always visit the Murderers if we are in Norwich. It is a big place but still manages to be cosy which I love. Had to have proof of vaccine or negative test which I wasn't expecting, but very happy to do that. Friendly staff. A bit cold in there on Sunday, but maybe because they were keeping windows open as advised.

A dynamic pub in central Norwich. Nice range of casks with styles going beyond bitter and gold - APA, IPA, for example. Congenial barman. There is a somewhat gothic feel about the place - perhaps a nod to the pub's murderous past. Four Seasons playing over the speakers, which is like. Definitely a venue worth checking out if you are visiting Norwich.

Nice bar, with a great atmosphere. Cool style with a 'murderer' themed bar which is interesting. Very good for football fans, showing at least two games at a time. Can be hard to get a seat sometimes as very popular but during quiet times is very good as the bar staff are friendly and up for a chat.
Would recommend the murderers ale, good ale at £2.99. Food is quite pricey but is delicious so worth that little extra.

Not a bad spot - catching the afternoon rays - and a damn good array of drinkables.
I seem to have swapped the toothless ones of Norwich for the Grant Mitchell lookalikes now but can't complain.
The pub is a decent size and the food looks good. The young bar man was a bit "look at me" - but I'm sure that was more his age and the fact that he has a full set of teeth.
Right next to the castle and well worth popping in to.

A traditional public house that's still got the usual nooks and crannies as it twists and turns back from the bar area into the restaurant area. Serving a few of the usual mass produced beers, this place also has a fine selection of real ales and guest ales, so that you're not stuck with the same old same old.
Friendly staff. I didn't try dinner as I arrived too late to eat.
They have a couple of large screen TV's and apparently offer football in 3D - you can borrow the glasses for the match.
The place is called The Murderers Pub because there is apparently a history of not

A great little city centre pub, the murderers or the gardeners arms (it is known as both!!) that serves food as well as a huge range of drinks and has a great atmosphere.
It also has a great back room for party hiring, which i have done and the staff are very friendly and prices not too pricey! I'd avoid it on football days as it does tend to be a good place to meet in the city.

The Murderers has a Juke Box!
Situated in the heart of Norwich, The Murderers offers a great weekend city vibe with so many bar staff you never have to wait for more than a few minutes to be served. With a vibrant atmosphere and friendly bar staff, it is a great place to go drinking before heading to a club or gig.
Although it is not the cheapest place to drink in Norwich, the quality of the beers and lagers is superb so you get what you pay for!
