Services
The Red Lion has been a pub for nearly two centuries. In 1836 the landlord was a certain Mr Samuel Alecock, but the building dates back to the 1780s or probably earlier. It is now a listed building and a couple of centuries of life as a pub have given it warmth and character. The bar and restaurant has a crackling open fire, sofas and there's a free pool table in a room off to one side.
Sizzling steaks and burgers, beautifully battered fish, perfect pies, we love serving meals that make people smile. The Red Lion has all the traditional dishes you want to see on a pub menu, along with some tasty ideas of our own and a special children's menu. The Red Lion is a traditional pub with a traditional drinks menu.
Caravanners, motor-homers and campers are welcome to Michael's new Caravan and Camp Site. We have recently installed all the facilities including electric hook ups, water and waste hookups and smart, clean showers and toilets. There are five hard standing pitches and lots of spaces for tents. Family campers will like the children's play area and the pets corner.

We arrived tired and hungry (from Kent!) with two young children to have lunch before checking into a local airbnb. We had checked the website prior to arriving as we know many pubs in the area only serve food for a couple of hours at lunch so we were happy to see that The Red Lion served food from 12-3pm. So you can imagine our disappointment when we arrived at 2:10pm to told actually they serve food until 2pm, not 3. When we pointed out that we checked the website, a gentleman checked it on his phone and said "oh so it does" but this was not followed up with an offer to even make us a sandwich

Absolutely fantastic owners, staff and food to die for. We also stayed on the campsite. We felt so welcomed by Michael. Shower and toilet block were so clean at all times. Such a peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommend to everyone . They really give a very personal touch to all aspects on campsite and pub. We will certainly be returning. Thanks to Michael ,Michael's Mum and all their staff.

Great place, made very welcome by Michael, family and staff. Excellent food, and Covid compliant.
Stayed in caravan site behind Red Lion, was lovely, hard standing pitches, electric hookup, fresh water, washing up facilities +chemical waste.
Toilet and shower facilities are disabled and wheelchair friendly, as is access to the pub/restaurant.
Would highly recommend

Phoned last minute to book as we were staying around the area. We went early and were impressed with the menu choices, especially as tonight between 5.30-6.30 they did an early bird special. We had fish & chips plus a choice of a glass wine, pint beer or soft drink for £8.00 each.
The food came out piping hot and the meal was lovely, we didn't have room for a dessert but heard the menu being read out and again plenty of choice.
Would recommend that you book as when we left there wasn't a empty table.
Also there is a camping & caravan site behind the pub which had hard standing and looked good
