The Low House (also known as The Kings' Head) is a rare gem of a pub. Nestled behind All Saints Church in the beautiful rural village of Laxfield, it offers a glimpse of a bygone world whilst serving the needs of its 21st century patrons. This fine old 16th century thatched pub has no bar but serves beer straight from the casks in the Tap Room.
The interior is largely unchanged since the 19th Century with small drinking rooms, high backed settles, and a warm open fire in the winter. In the Card Room, the Farmers' table, the Settle and the dining room, there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy this unique Suffolk pub. The pub has a beautiful large garden, once the village bowling green, to be enjoyed when the weather is fine.

Services
A CIC is a Community Interest Company and is a "not for profit" entity. Our CIC is structured so that the Directors cannot receive renumeration from the company or benefit from it in any way. We pay for every pint we drink! The purpose of the CIC is to ensure the continuation of the Low House as a Pub and an important asset to our community.
We have a lovely garden with space for all. This is also where we hold our summer beer festivals and the literature festival. At the top is an old bowls pavilion which can be used when the weather is a bit nippy or damp. It's obviously an old building but it has probably only been an ale house since Victorian times.
Room 1 of the Old Stables is a double room with a double bed and ensuite bathroom with shower. Featuring Egyptian Cotton bed linen and dense, white cotton towels this room is equipped with wifi, television and mini-fridge plus tea and coffee making facilities. With well appointed windows including a full length double window over looking the church, this is a lovely room in which to enjoy a relaxing few nights away.

Our first ever visit today, absolutely blown away with the roast and the service we received.
That extra tray of veg & gravy was an added bonus well received 😋
Food was excellent and I was recommended the Victoria cask ale, again not disappointed!!
Also very reasonable priced.
You'll definitely be seeing us again 👌

Thoroughly recommend this place, had a lovely evening in there tonight, staff could not have been more friendly. My mum has a food allergy and they catered for this fantastically, she could eat anything off the menu, which only serves to show how fresh and homemade the food was. Lovely place, could not fault it

What a great pub! Spent a lovely night with old friends, sampling the beers and delicious food. Staff are friendly and helpful. This pub is unusual in that it doesn’t have an actual bar, but there are lots of chatty locals who’d be propping it up if there were one! Landlord Al couldn’t be more ‘cheery landlord-ish’ if he tried! Great place - go there!
