The Anchor
Our 18th Century traditional quayside pub sits close to the station at the heart of the picturesque town of Woodbridge on the East Suffolk coast. All our dishes are prepared fresh each day from the finest, local and seasonal produce and centre on classic British, Mediterranean and Asian flavours.

Enjoy The Anchor inside and out, whether basking streetside in the summer or cosy by our roaring fire in the winter, it's always a warm, relaxing place to be.Great beers, a friendly atmosphere, good food, all the things you would expect from a lovely British hostelry. Vernon Blackmore and his team have been at The Anchor for over ten years.
Services
In the ten years that Vernon Blackmore and our hard-working team have been at the Anchor, what we offer has developed into a very personal feel of what we feel a quayside pub should be. We want you to enjoy the history of The Anchor's interior so we have been very careful not to remove the pub's old charm and character.
The Anchor Group of pubs and restaurants is building an awesome reputation for great food and drink combined with excellent service. We are currently looking for great staff to join our teams at The Anchor, The Duck, The Table and the Easton White Horse for roles including front of house manager, waiting staff, kitchen staff, kitchen porters, chefs, cleaners, maintenance role and more.
For Vernon and our dedicated kitchen team, it's all about cooking exciting, tasty dishes from the best local, fresh, seasonal produce. Over the years we have forged great relationships with passionate local producers to be able to bring you prime Suffolk ingredients, be it fish landed at the quayside or plump berries harvested just up the road where we get first dibs!
Situated in the delightful Suffolk town of Woodbridge, our traditional quayside pub is a perfect stop while exploring the best of this wonderful area. Set in the countryside we are just a short drive from our nearby Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding natural Beauty and close to popular towns and villages, including Framlingham, Wickham Market and Aldeburgh.
You can just call in for a table, but if you would like to guarantee it please contact us to make a reservation. Created by Vernon Blackmore, The Anchor proprietor, and Jamie Symons, these pastes are all hand made and Great Taste Award Winners. We provide you with a easy way to make more interesting authentic, tasty curries in your own home.

The pub was very busy for a Wednesday afternoon busy with food we had one then moved to own next pub. We pop back in before we caught the train home this was a bout 17.00 and there was four people behind the bar which is so small it be hard to swing a cat around..

Tables too close for current Covid situation. Whilst Guinea fowl meal very good, the chicken curry was awful. The scraggy gristly chicken was inedible. Having paid we informed a staff member who was rudely dismissive. Caters for under 30 drinkers.

My dinner partner and I were very pleasantly surprised to find this gem while staying over in Woodbridge for a night: it looked like just another corner pub, but the dinner plates were really excellent. On top of that, the service was courteous and the atmosphere pleasant. We look forward to going back when we're in town again!

Lovely pub with excellent food. Small menu with great specials. They were able to accommodate a large booking with two nearby tables. Staff were super attentive and really lovely, special mention to Abigail - thank you. Dog friendly.

Stopped on a busy evening for food. The service was quick to the point of being pushy. The food arrived promptly, I thought the portion of fish small and the peas firm.
Whilst the food was acceptable I found better at similar prices in the town.

Superb food, excellent staff. Well laid out menu with notation for gluten free, dairy free.
Not accessible though if travelling with someone in a wheelchair. We ended up eating in front of the pub by the road but didn't take away from the whole experience.

Great local pub near the river. Lovely food - the homemade burger in particular is fantastic.
Some decent ale and selection of soft drinks for kids.
