Independently owned and first licensed in the 1850s, the beautiful Virginia Creeper clad, stone building changes appearance throughout the year, from light to dark green leaves during spring and summer, to an autumnal fiery red and is a real focal point for the village.
Assured of a warm welcome from landlord and locals, a roaring wood burner in the winter, and a beautiful sun drenched rear courtyard in the summer, The Temple Bar Inn with its 3 ensuite rooms is perfect for a relaxing staycation exploring the beautiful Golden Valley.

Services
Our well stocked bar offers 3 real ales on hand pumps, one of which is permanently allocated to the local favourite, "Butty Bach" from the Wye Valley Brewery, with 2 weekly rotating guest ales.
We are particularly proud of our gin collection, boasting over 35 different types including London Dry and flavoured, with our house favourite being Hillbilly Gin, distilled less than 10 miles away by Black Mountain Botanicals (we know them as Lloyd and Glyn!) in Michaelchurch Escley.

Our kitchen is masterfully run by Head Chef Natalie Parker, who has become somewhat of a celebrity for her Sunday lunches (advance booking is seriously advised!), as well as her seasonally changing menus. Pastry trained, Natalie prides herself in creating traditional menus using locally sourced ingredients (Mailes Butchers are so close they deliver on foot!), and the most exquisitely tasting desserts.

Stopped here on the way to greenman festival as my wife was visiting friends in the village. Oh, what a magnificent country pub it was.
It was a friendly characterful local just the sort anyone would wish to live near.
Went for the homemade fish finger sandwich which was a taste sensation.
After paying, we had the pleasure of meeting Alfie and Phil who wished us a good weekend, a good life. It was all over too soon with a fist pump and we were on the road again. Wish to be visiting this place again soon.

As a simple, country inn The Temple Bar cannot be recommended too highly. My wife and I stayed for four nights, Our room, the Hay on Wye, was clean and comfortable. The food was in quality well above standard pub food, and the beer was excellently kept. Gino, the landlord, went out of his way to be helpful and welcoming, as did all the rest of the staff. We'd love to come again. It's a shame we live a long way away.
