Services
Stay overnight in Symonds Yat, Herefordshire and wake-up in the heart of The Wye Valley & The Forest of Dean with the River Wye just outside your window. Included in price of rooms is a delightful English breakfast, free off road parking and all taxes. We serve delicious cooked breakfasts with a variety of traditional and healthy options.
The prices below are shown per room per night (two people sharing) and includes a delicious cooked breakfast. All of our rooms are either double or twin bedded, however we do offer single occupancy from 69 to 95 (Sunday - Thursday nights). Apologies but we do not accommodate children under 14 years of age including babies, or any pets.
May we draw your attention to the following: we are critically short of staff at this time, and we cannot truthfully say when we will be able to operate normally. Dinner is served 6-8.30pm - some nights we will not be serving walk-ins - just our residents and booked tables.
We are serving drinks at the bar - with 4 people maximum at the bar - we kindly request that customers wear a face covering when ordering at the bar (obviously if you have a medical exemption then you are not required to wear anything) and indeed if this makes you uncomfortable in any way then we are happy to give table service outside, Just ask. - a 1 way system is in operation (in through car park door, and out via the terrace door).

We are located in Symonds Yat East which is few miles off the A40 between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. There are several perfect places to park and enjoy a peaceful off road walk or cycle to us. Symonds Yat Rock Car Park: admire the view from the famous viewpoint and then descend via a wooded path to Symonds Yat East below.
If you would like to treat someone special to a Saracens Head Inn voucher please do give us a call and pay for a voucher which then can be emailed, to print off, or we can send one in the post. Vouchers can be any amount from 30.00, and can be used within a year against food, drink or accommodation and make a great present.

Quite expensive - over £8 for a lunch baguette, which is higher than London prices! But good portions.
Friendly and helpful bar staff - as much as they can be with covid rules. The pub itself is fairly bland, but it was recently flooded so that's likely why. Beautiful rivers views and plenty of outside seating.
If you drive, you have to pay for parking, so a day out in this area with food turns out to be quite expensive in the end.

I'm a forester and grew up not far from Symonds Yat, I have fond memories of eating scampi in a basket on the wall outside this pub in the 80s.
On Sunday my wife, son and I walked down from the view point for a quick drink before the steep walk back up.
Sadly the service in the pub is at an all time low and prices at an all time high. £20 for 3 drinks and a packet of crisps. The barman didn't know what a red win was, really !!!
But the cruelest part of the experience was several members of staff watching as my wife wrestled with the door whilst carrying a couple of drinks, causing her to spill

Love this place, the setting is beautiful, with fabulous views and walks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent, all cooked fresh and very good quality. Also excellent choice of ciders/beers. We had booked a nights stay, unfortunately there was a mix up with our room and we ended up with an inferior room to that which we had booked. They were very apologetic and gave us a huge reduction, but it was our 35th wedding anniversary and we were very disappointed. My husband would go back tomorrow, I'm not quite ready to forgive them yet!!

Usually a really lovely place in an idyllic spot along the Wye. But oh dear the service this time. I would have preferred to be told they were really short on staff (late summer 2021) that to completely under-deliver. Food took close on an hour to arrive, having been told only to order from the sandwich menu (yet other tables ordering before and after us got full menu options, albeit they too had to wait the same). Even the rope ferry, a real pull for the location (pun intended), was out of order due to staff shortage.

Delightful pub, efficient and friendly staff, who wore facemasks. A one way system was in place. It's a shame that customers didn't obey the pub's guidance.
Our Sunday lunches were the best we've had in a few years! Brilliant choice and range of vegetables, and the sheer amount of sliced beef I had was superb, (and I have a large appetite). My other half had the vegetarian option, which she also enjoyed.
A brilliant pub in a lovely historical setting.
Thanks, guys, much appreciated.

We came here just for a drink. Positives is the view of the river. Sadly people who I was with not impressed with the lattes. Bit pricey but understandable due to location. Can not comment on food as did not order any. One thing maybe improve on is the toilets. Toilets are on the left as soon as come through entrance which stank the hallway on arrival. We would come again next time to eat as the reviews are positive.

Went here yesterday with my partner and 4 legged friend (my dog, in case you wondered), and I was not disappointed, great selection of spirits and ales/beer - I am a bit of a gin fanatic, so when i see a gin that i haven't yet tried, I'm always keen to try it, and Saracens didn't disappoint 😄 I called in advance to book a table for dinner, just in case, since we had quite a long track and it was no problem at all, the table was ready for us at 18:30 (even before but we enjoyed a drink outside on the terrace.) we both had the burger and it was AMAZING! Trust me here, i love a good burger! Can
