Life is a journey, with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most importantly experiences to enjoy!. Visits and visitors; clubs and celebrations; learning and laughter: we provide our children with unique experiences, which foster a love of life, a passion for living, and memories that will stretch a lifetime.
We respect and listen to the voice of our pupils, for without their collaboration and mutual admiration ours would be a lonely world. Every year the Stockport SHAPES Alliance (Schools Health, Activity, PE and Sport) hold an Awards event for all of the Stockport schools that have taken part in SHAPES 'Be Inspired' Sport competitions.

As the Headteacher of Thorn Grove Primary School it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. I hope it provides you with the comprehensive information you require and a glimpse into the life of the school. If after searching the website you still require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
We welcome you and your family to our happy school where the successful partnership of children, parents and teachers is the foundation of a caring, learning community. Schools vary enormously in achievement and atmosphere. Our distinction lies with the children in our school; they are polite, hardworking and well behaved.
The role of the Governing Body is to provide support and challenge to the Head Teacher and the senior leadership team to help them deliver the best possible education for all children at the school. The Governing Body is not responsible for the day to day running of the school. This is the job of the Head Teacher and senior leadership team.
Thorn Grove is fortunate in having a Nursery Unit in the school which caters for up to 40 children on two and a half day sessions. Parents have the option of full days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday a.m. or Wednesday p.m. and full days Thursday and Friday. Alternatively, we offer a limited number of full time places to those families that are entitled to 30 hours funding.
The wearing of school uniform is compulsory from Nursery to the end of Year 6. Parents find it serviceable and a sensible option for 'fashion conscious' children. The official uniform supplier for the school is Monkhouse and all uniform can be purchased on their website. Please ensure that all items are labelled with names and we will endeavour to return any lost property to their owner.
