Welcome to Bemerton St John C of E Primary School which is part of Magna Learning Partnership. I hope that the information contained on this website helps to give a flavour of our aims, objectives and expectations of our pupils. The children lie at the heart of everything we do at Bemerton and staff and governors firmly believe that all of our children deserve the very best education and to give them second best is to fail them.
I feel privileged to be a part of such a happy and caring school where the whole school community works together for the good of the school and its pupils. We are a Voluntary Aided School which enables the Local Governing Body to ensure that staff appointed, remain true to the Christian principles that underpin a Church School.

Our intent is to teach key transferable skills through an enquiry-led and engaging History curriculum which will build rounded individuals who can adapt to the requirements of jobs which do not yet exist. Children are offered the chance to use historical studies as a vehicle to engage in active problem solving and are encouraged to develop self-reliance (in both asking and answering questions) before arriving at their own conclusions.
At Bemerton, children flourish across the curriculum and develop their own spirituality and self-confidence, which enables them to reach their potential and work within our close community family, to serve one another. Educating for Thankfulness: We do not take for granted the gifts we have been given, the privileges we are afforded or those who love and nurture us so that we can serve others.
The DfE have recently reinforced the need "to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs." Democracy is rife within the school.
Welcome back to school after the summer holidays, we all hope you had a lovely break and are ready to start a new and exciting year in Robins! Please also find the spellings that children will need to know by the end of Year 1. We will of course be learning these in school but it is always beneficial to practice these regularly at home also.
We are looking forward to having a great year with you all. Miss Reeves will be teaching you all week except for Wednesday mornings when Mrs Lock will teach you. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Hynes and Mrs Lingham. Statutory spellings for year 3 & 4 are here - it would be helpful to practice these at home.

Looking back on my time here, i have come to realize what a brilliant school Bemerton was. When i first arrived in 2007/8, it was in a shambles due to some very questionable leadership, however when the head teacher was replaced just a few years later things very quickly got better. i remember a very happy and accommodating environment, with all the teachers bar one proving more than competent in my opinion. At this time in their lives, the most important thing is that children are happy and i certainly know i was. The few objections i do have revolve around the schools religious policy. Although
