However, we would recommend anyone who is overdue their sight test but is not having issues with their vision to wait until the current pandemic has resolved. We still recommend all at risk categories of patients such as the over 70s or individuals with underlying risk factors, or those in close contact with these patients, consider waiting until the current pandemic has resolved.
We are booking all patient contacts by appointments so that we have only one patient or only one family in at a time. This gives us the chance to sterilise properly after each visit. All collections and adjustments will be by appointment as this will help us maximise social spacing for you, our other clients and staff members.

You may notice tired, or gritty eyes, which may be uncomfortable in sunlight or a smoky atmosphere. They may be slightly red, and feel as though there is something in them. The eyelids have tiny glands in them, especially the lower lids. These glands make lipids that provide a protective oil coating over the tear film and helps stop the tears from breaking up.
The Scheme is available for all patients registered to a GP in the North Tees or the South Tees area. To enter the scheme you will need to have had an up to date sight test in the last year. Your current optician or ophthalmologist will be able to tell you if you meet the requirements (6/18 or less in BE or N9 or less in BE) and they will be able to provide you with a referral into the scheme.
At Mellis Eyecare we take the time to make sure you are safe to wear contact lenses, teaching you the necessary skills to insert and remove the lenses proficiently. If you're looking for a simple and convenient way of correcting your eyesight, daily disposable contact lenses offer many benefits. These soft lenses are worn for a day and then thrown away - there is no need for solutions to clean and store them.
