Services
Penny Kavallares is the owner of Lydney Osteopaths and qualified from the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopathy). She works with a combination of traditional osteopathy, cranial osteopathic techniques and where appropriate may also use ultrasound therapy and kinesiology taping.
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
You will be asked to remove some of your clothing usually down to underwear. Please let the osteopath know if you are uncomfortable about this. A privacy screen is provided for this purpose and a towel will be provided during treatment. You may like to bring loose shorts with you. You can ask a friend or relative to accompany you and be present throughout your treatment.
As part of your osteopathic treatment plan, it may be felt that you would benefit from ultrasound and/or kinesiology taping alongside osteopathic treatment. We have found that both have proved useful at times to aid recovery. Ultrasound has been used as a treatment modality by therapists over the last 50 years.
Lydney osteopaths also have additional therapists working at our centre to offer a holistic approach to your health. Please contact the individual therapist directly for more information or to book an appointment. Carrying out routine foot care treatments such as problematic toe nails, ingrowing toe nails, corns, callus, verrucae & general foot pain.
