We will not be giving appointments over the phone or face to face. This is to protect the patients and staff and reduce the risk of infection in a crowded waiting room. Due to the high increase in the number of telephone calls the doctors are receiving each day, and for the safety of both doctors and patients, we will now be reducing our telephone consultation service to calls between 08.30 and 11.00am each day.

If you call outside these times, and your call is not urgent, you will be asked to call back the following day. With this website we are aiming to help you find all the information you need at the click of a mouse. You can order repeat prescriptions online, cancel existing appointments, change the contact details we hold for you and much more.
Services
Knock Medical Centre started in 1928 by Dr Fred Halliday, at 374 Beersbridge Road in East Belfast. At that time, people were either "Panel Patients" (a consequence of the 1911 National Insurance Act which provided compulsory pre-paid Health and Medical insurance for employees below certain agreed low wages) or "Private Patients".
Certain services provided by your doctor are not paid for by the NHS and you may be asked to pay a fee. Travel - certificates of fitness, holiday cancellations forms, immunisation, verification of passport photographs, etc. Charges for these services are displayed at reception, in waiting areas and on notice boards.
All consultations are by appointment and these are made by telephoning the surgery or by calling into the practice. The receptionists will endeavour to give you a suitable appointment with the doctor of your choice and you may choose to see any doctor in the practice.

This practice endeavours to offer contact with a healthcare professional either by appointment or telephone within 48 working hours of initial request, although this will not always be with the doctor of your choice. Please make a separate appointment for each person as delays are caused for everyone if two people are seen in one appointment.
By using the repeat medical request form issued with prescriptions and putting a tick beside the item(s) you need. Use the telephone answering/recording machine on 028 9065 4018 (option 2) available 24 hours. This is for repeat medication requests only, so please do not use this for other requests or messages.
All newly registered patients will be asked to complete a questionnaire and invited to attend for a "new patient" check up/assessment with the nurse practitioner initially. This enables us to meet you and to assess your medical needs. Please note that you can choose to attend any of the doctors in the partnership, although we would encourage you to consult one partner for chronic problems as this helps to ensure continuity of care.

If the practice intends to continue long term with setting a time limit to ring for a callback from a GP, and restricting the number of daily callbacks available, then it might be an idea to upgrade the phone system to handle the volume & intensity of calls this restricted access inevitably generates, maybe some sort of queuing system so people aren’t just cut off. 126 call fails and repeated hits of the redial button just to get through today, I don’t know how older & more vulnerable patients can realistically be expected to cope with this. I’m sure it puts the reception staff under a lot

This surgery deserved recognition and an award for being so organized and efficient. Alan the practice manager is obviously very good at his job, and the doctors and nurses and superb and care about their patients. Nothing is ever too much trouble and easy to get an appointment if required. Thano

Doctor phoned me as part of a call back service and started by saying he was very busy and I shouldn't take up to much of his time.

It feels a little strange to be reviewing a surgery, but I am almost evangelical about how great Knock Medical Centre is. No one likes going to the doctor, so if you have to go it may as well be as best an experience as you can manage, and that is what you get here.

Appointments are easy enough to get and all staff, from reception to nurses and all the doctors are so nice. While doctors are constantly under pressure to see as many patients as possible under crippling time restraints, you never feel rushed, you are never just handed a prescription and sent on your way and you are listened to.
