It is well known that the greatest changes in our development occur when we are very young and that 80% of out intellect is formed before the age of five. At Focus the staff recognise this and accept the responsibility they have for enabling every child to perform as well as they can.
We use our wide experience to plan challenging activities to meet and sometimes exceed the requirements of the Department for Education and skills guidance on the Early Years Foundation Stage.Just as importantly, the unwritten curriculum, which happens spontaneously, contributes very strongly to our great success and high reputation, especially in the Personal, Social and Emotional Development of the children.

We are proud of the range of stimulating activities we provide for the children to access as recommended by the Early Years Foundation Stage. There are seven areas of learning and the goals for each area are outlined overleaf. We tailor our planning cycle very carefully to include each of the areas throughout each term.
Children choose which activities they would like to do. The areas within the setting are resourced to provide an enriched environment covering the six areas of learning. The environment is set up relating to the current theme and the children's interests. The children are encouraged to tidy up their toys before moving onto other areas.
To recognise each child's potential and to react appropriately to it, giving all children the opportunity to develop their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. To prepare children for reception class especially by gaining confidence, independance, high self-esteem and a love of learning.

My daughter nelly absolutely loves focus I couldn’t recommend enough all of the staff are super friendly and they really put your mind at ease nelly loves coming and never wants to leave they always fill the days with such fun and different activities always trying different things they have fab resources and I know she is in the best hands also they are really great on the tapestry account always updating and adding lots of photos and feedback throughout the day which is lovely they also encourage lots of at home learning and always keen to find out what your little one has been up to at

Both my other children attended Focus so was a no brainer my other son would follow as it’s a Lovely nursery with great friendly staff. Cody started in September and was very anxious about being left! It’s an understatement that he hates being left with anyone! Well not anymore, he loves going into nursery everyday and is happy to be there and enjoys it! Thankyou everyone for all you do..
