Services
A strong partnership between home and school is vital if children are going to succeed and gain the most from their day. Parents are the first educators of their children and we value their contribution and feedback. At St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School we have an "Open Door" policy. This means that parents are welcome to come and see the Head Teacher at any time during the school day, they do not need to have an appointment.
Welcome to St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School from Mr. Paul Beverton, Head Teacher. St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Infant and Junior Schools were built in 1974 when children moved from the old St. Joseph's site next to St. Agnes Church in Whitley Road. We had a shared governing body but two separate schools with two headteachers.
The spiritual life of St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School community is strong, with staff, children, priests and parents taking an active part. Children are encouraged to ask Big Questions about God and our faith. Each class has a Big Questions book on their RE table which children have access to in which to write their question.
In this section, parents will find information about admissions, funding and the wider life of the school. Additionally, there are links to the Diocese, our local parishes and other websites that you may find useful and some that are regularly used by pupils. We hope that you find what you need; however, should you feel that there is a useful piece of the jigsaw that we have missed here, please do let us know.
Pupil Premium funding is additional funding allocated to all schools to support disadvantaged pupils. St Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School receives pupil premium for: children that are cared for or adopted from care; children whose parents are in the armed forces; and for every pupil who has received free school meals over the past 6 years.

Is this Church even Catholic? That's what I keep asking myself walking around here. Their tabernacle is in another room across the hall, their architecture wreaks of the bereft Protestant theology I grew up with, and they don't have kneelers. If not for the crucifix and the stations, I'd think this was a Baptist Church. God help us. If you're looking for a Catholic parish that seeks to foster the faith of the Catholic Church and not that of watered down Catholic Protestantism, go somewhere else. This is not the place. I'm sure good people exist here and good things go on, but the same exists among

I usually read the reviews before going somewhere. I was a newcomer and stoped by to say hello and introduce myself; the office workers looked at me if I was coming from another planet. . There is a review from a person that said “the church is very political” and she hit the target. With all this going on in the Catholic Church and they are running a Church that scares newcomers. I’ll never go to reconciliation to that particular church. Scarrrrrryyyyy...
