Trefaldwyn Vets is based in the historic market town of Montgomery, situated on the Welsh-English border. We also have a branch surgery in the rural community town of Llanfair Caereinion, in the Banwy Valley. We are committed to providing the care and assistance you need for farm animals, horses or any species of small animal in the area of Mid Wales.
We are now seeing your pets as normal; for vaccinations, neutering or any emergency issues. We have a limit of 2 clients in the waiting room at any one time, but once asked by the vet, you may now bring your pet into the practice. At this time, we are not allowing clients into consulting rooms with their animals.

Services
Llanfair Caereinion is home to our branch surgery, where we offer a basic first opinion service. We are located on the Banwy Industrial Estate past the light railway station, on the right hand side before Wynnstays. We are happy to see small animals and we can offer a limited farm and equine service from Llanfair.
On arrival at our Montgomery or Llanfair branch, you will be met by our friendly team at the reception. Our aim is to give an excellent service to our clients and this starts when you walk through the door. Our waiting room is equipped with dog scales, which clients are welcome to pop in and use during our opening hours without an appointment, seating and information boards.
We have a fully-equipped in-house laboratory, allowing us to provide the best possible care for your animals. Our blood analysis equipment allows us to get results quickly, usually the same day, and means we can offer a range of tests from pre-anaesthetic blood screen for your pet up to a full blood wellness screen.
We have a digital x-ray machine, a state of the art static ultrasound scanner for small animals, portable ultrasound machines (for both small animals and for fertility assessments and pregnancy diagnosis in cattle) and an endoscope. Our endoscope is used to visualise the rectum and colon, as well as the throat and oesophagus and is a very useful diagnostic tool in some cases.
Here at Trefaldwyn Vets, we have separate cat and dog kennel rooms, and an isolation ward, ensuring that your pets' stay with us is as stress-free as it can be. For dogs, we have 2 large walk-in kennels, suitable for anything up to Great Dane size, 1 medium kennel suitable for dogs up to the size of a spaniel, and 2 small dog kennels.

I Can’t praise enough the care & professional approach TREFADWYN VETERINARY CLINIC gives to dogs & cats as with ours it has been second to none from all stages of booking in, operational work on site, annual boosters and overall attention to our animals. A big shout out in particular to Veterinarian Sue Jones who did operational procedures on my dog towards his end but a year later because of his advanced age of 14+ he succumbed to trachea ongoing problems so yet again a shout to Veterinarian Sam Higgs who voluntarily came to our home on his advice to perform euthanasia our beloved dog Ozzy on

Shocking experience!! Booked our pet in to be seen today at half 2 so we arrived early, receptionist didn't know about our appointment despite talking to her earlier today! Then got left waiting in the car with a crippled dog for an hour for a vet to come outside and see us,the vet hadn't came out after an hour so we had to leave as the dog and our baby were getting to stressed out!! Really poor customer care would definitely not recommend!!!!☹

Positive: Professionalism
Loki my cocker spaniel puppy required eye surgery, the vet Geoffrey was so skillful. Even after quite a traumatic time for my dog the end result was a 100% success. Loki happily heads into vets now and his wagging tail shows he likes and forgives Geoffrey. Montgomery vets remain my first choice for all my pet care.

A small local veterinary clinic for small pets like cats, dogs and rabbits as well as larger farm animals and horses. The vets themselves are incredibly competent and the support staff are friendly and helpful.
The clinic is clean and straightforward. There is a small, free car park and a small lawn for walking dogs. Various products for pets and farm animals are sold in the reception.
