Lanchester Pet Resort is an established boarding kennels and cattery near Lanchester, in County Durham. Our location, facilities and reputation mean that we're the first choice of many cat and dog owners in County Durham, Tyne & Wear, and beyond. We're a husband and wife team, and we bought the business from its previous owner in 2002, and since then we have improved the business and our facilities year on year.

We have a variety of different styles of accommodation to suit all dogs and cats. All our enclosures are heated and secure, with night-vision CCTV covering the entrance to our site, so that you can relax and enjoy your holiday in the knowledge that your pet is comfortable, safe and cared for.
We offer a choice of accommodation for dogs; you can choose our standard enclosures, with an indoor sleeping area leading to a secure outdoor run, larger family units, or our bungalow style apartments( 2 Units in each Bunglow) with large human-style beds for your animals to enjoy.

If you're going away, you might have made a list of things to take with you - but have you made a list for your pet? We provide a nutritious food for both cats and dogs. However, if your pet has specific requirements or you'd just rather it had its usual food, don't forget to bring that with you. Please label the food bags or containers with the names of your pets, and the amount they are to be fed.
Do you have a minimum booking length? During parts of July and August, we will not be able to accept bookings of less than seven nights. I won't be able to pick my pet up. Can someone else do it for me? We won't release your animals to anyone without your express permission. If you want someone else to pick your pets up on your behalf, you will need to inform us beforehand.
Our location makes us easily reachable for pet owners in the Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham areas, and beyond. We can be found on the B6296, a couple of miles outside the village of Lanchester, in County Durham. Lanchester is on the main A691 road from Durham to Consett.
Once you reach Lanchester, follow the turning for Wolsingham (at the side of the Kings Head public house), then simply continue up the hill and after a few miles you will see our gates on your right.

We took our dog Isaac there for a weekend stay. It was his first stay in a kennels since we saved him from a Romanian shelter so we were worried he would be scared. He doesn't like strangers but the way they welcomed him put him at ease and he was all over them wanting affection. They let us know he was fine over the weekend and when we picked him up he was jumping all around the girl like he'd know her forever. It was the right choice to take Isaac there and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

We take our dogs here everytime we go away. We have small dogs who have struggled in previous kennels with nerves but here they've grown in confidence. We always pick them up with wagging tails and smelling lovely! The whole team are very accommodating and always put the pooches first. We trust them completely and can go away knowing our dogs are well cared for!

Omg i have Apollo back i was so scared he was going to fret for me as he has never left my side to go to somewhere where its not his dad or me but boy was I wrong for 11month this puppy was so happy thanks to seeing all the lush pics of him on facey taken by christine and when i picked him up he was so so happy to see me wagging his tail and getting so excited thank you Christine for looking after him . I was very apprehensive in leaving my three dogs for the first time so looked around as id never left my kids before, Lanchester Pet resort was the third I looked at, and wish it was the first Tim showed me around the facilities and I was very impressed, very clean and a great field and very secure away from any main road, my mind was made up and was glad of my this decision it was the right one, while I was away Christine the owner posted photos of my little one having a good run around during their stay and this put my mind at ease while away, I struggled to get Dexter and Tiffany away on my

Was very nervous leaving my boy as he frets when I leave him. I had heard great things about Lanchester Pet Resort so I decided to take the plunge. I first arranged to view the kennels and loved the fact that the dogs in their care seemed to be extremely happy. I asked lots of questions (probably to the point of being annoying) and every one was answered to my satisfaction and some were answered that I hadn't even asked yet showing they had great understanding of both the owner and the pet they would be boarding.

Booked our two cats to stay at Lanchester Pet Resort for a week whilst on holiday although on collection my partner was told by the staff that our cats a "feral" due to the way they reacted to staff.
These two cats are house cats that we have had since kittens and are handled by children aswell as many other's that visit our home, so can only assume that our cats have shown these signs due to the way they have been treated by the staff as previous Cattery didn't have a problem with them. I have also contacted our vets and they where shocked by the comments made.

Takes a lot for me to write anything but a glowing review, but I hate that I left my dog here. For context, my dog has experience of other kennels, I owned and ran my own dog walking/pet care business for the last 6 years and am a qualified behaviourist, so I know dogs and I know customers. I’d also like to add that the lady who took him up to the kennels and I think is the one to play with them seemed great with dogs.
Im going to try and be balanced, so the positives first: I’m giving one star for him coming back in one piece, and one star for them being cheaper than their competitors.

Took my Dobermann to Christine at Lanchester Pet Resort over Christmas for 10 days, he absolutely loved it! Great area outside for the dogs to run about and play ball, lovely, heated rooms for them and regular facebook photos on the page so you can see how they are all doing! Will be bringing Thor here all the time now. Thanks so much x
