Kevin, Linda and our caring established staff would like to invite your pets to spend their holiday with us. All our rooms have comfy beds, dry vet bed and fresh water (with outside runs). We have a FIVE STAR RATING Licence from Durham Council, so you can rest assured that your pet is in safe hands.

For our feline friends the Cattery is fully heated and has spacious individual pens with outside runs. You may select your own menu, which we will be happy to feed. Eric Dewell Is our dog obedience and corrective trainer, available for individual or group training. You can call Eric on 07896187026.

Boarding Kennels Report

Set in village suroundings on the edge of the countryside, Deerness Kennels have 32 years' experience of looking after animals. We strongly recommend viewing of our boarding kennels, or why not have your dog try a couple of nights' stay to make sure your pet is happy before long stays. All animals arriving at the kennels for boarding must have a current vaccination certificate.

Rescue & Rehoming Report

Deerness has a seperate Rescue block of kennels for our Rescue Dogs called Stray Action for Dogs (' SAD'). We have rescued over 2,220 dogs in the last three years. We are also aided by Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs (Registered Charity No. 1128800 - 'SOSAD'), who provide assistance with veterinary fees.

Pet Insurance Report

Did you know 1 in 3 pets may require unexpected veterinary treatment each year?* Whilst advances in veterinary medicine mean vets can do more for your pet, treatment costs can soon mount up. Deerness Kennels believes that pet insurance is an important part of responsible pet ownership allowing owners to go ahead with veterinary treatment at the earliest opportunity knowing that help is there for the unexpected costs.

I adopted Bruno 11 years ago and lost him earlier this year my house was so empty nothing can replace Bruno I went to deerness on Sunday and found a little puppy with a big attitude and he's took over the house I carnt thank the staff enough and now my baby has his forever home x

We put our dog,Buster into these Kennels on occasions and are always very happy with the care he gets.The staff are always very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend these kennels.

Hunter enjoyed his 1st stay and I found the staff very reassuring as he is reactive and anxious as a dog. Have booked him for another stay I was so pleased to find somewhere he is able to manage.

Great friendly people who have a wealth of experience when it comes to looking after dogs, my dogs nearly 16years old and still waggs his tail going in and coming out, I definitely recommend deerness kennels

I've been using these kennels since 1991 were we rehomed our first absolutely amazing gsd.
Since then weve had numerous trips to find fur babys for our 8 kids over the years brilliant staff kev and his team are wonderful folk .hats off to longevity the 2 of you.....🤘

Please find attached a photo of Bob a cat we got from Deerness Kennels about 3 years ago. Initially he was a difficult cat and did not settle initially and it was a challenging time as we already had two established cats . We have stuck with him and now he is doing well.

Slye loves her holidays at Deerness! The staff are so kind and the collection service is brilliant... prices are reasonable too! Skye returns to me happy and content after each stay ... highly recommend
