It may well have *been* a great local but, unlike it states on this site, it's no longer open for business. Having walked there last night in hope of a pint and a pie I discovered it shut up and kegs barring the car park. After getting back to the cottage I googled local news to find that the previous landlords retired a month ago and no replacements yet found.

My husband and I s decided to stop at this place on the way home from Wells, the reviews on both Google and trip advisor had mostly been really positive so we were expecting amazing home cooked food. The pies were no longer available so my husband opted for the lasagna which arrived as a melted mess, he said it was one of the worse Lasagnas' he had ever eaten. I ordered the cottage pie, I was given a good portion but it looked more like a school dinner and was just as tasteless. This place was totally underwhelming and we are both still struggling to comprehend how it has received such good reviews

What a find. Fantastic pub on the outskirts of wells, the car park is spacious and wheelchair accessible. Outside seating area is snug and comfortable. They have a pool table, seating area inside is comfortable and it has a traditional pub decor inside. Barman was very friendly and welcoming. All in all its a decent pub.

What a brilliant pub. Great food at a reasonable price. Excellent landlord and helpers with great beer. The Sunday roast is nothing short of fantastic with plenty of choice. Our family go there on a regular basis. Do not be fooled by the outside. The welcome is warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
