We are an award winning real ale country pub in the heart of Somerset, situated at the crossroads of the A37 and A3153 in the village of Lydford-on- Fosse, between the small market towns of Castle Cary and Somerton. Give us a try and sample great real ale, good wine and food in a relaxed country pub atmosphere.
We pride ourselves on being a traditional English pub, with ale poured straight from the barrel. Our food has won a silver and gold medal in the TASTE OF THE WEST competition. We don't have slot machines with flashing lights, no jukebox, no pool table and above all no television - just open fires, a comfy sofas and a relaxed comfortable environment where all are welcome.

Great place. We stayed over night, booked in for dinner and continental breakfast.
The food choice all prepared with fresh produce by chef and kitchen staff was ample, plated well and tased really good.
Bar and serving staff were polite, friendly and offered advice on food choice and drinks.
Costs were reasonable for overnight
accommodation, food and drink in a pleasant well equipped room.
The open fire in the bar brought warmth to an otherwise cold night.
All in all a great break and experience.

Stopped here's on a whim last night.... So glad we did! Atmosphere fantastic, staff attentive, great selection of real ale (as well as the stuff on the pumps!) and wine. The food... I ordered chilli and it was described by the staff as being hot but not now your head off hot. It was delicious served with cooling sour cream, salsa and home made guacamole (oh my, the guacamole ๐) and tortilla chips! Husband had muscles with chorizo served with chips and sour dough bread, I can tell you what it tasted like as he wouldn't let me have any!!
Even though it's a bit of drive for us, I can't wait to

What a beautiful spot. The garden is definitely a sun trap. Iโve just popped in on my way past for a bite to eatโฆ could happily stay all day. The wrap I had was bursting with flavour. I would love to come back and make an evening of it, maybe when they have some live music on.
Great service thank you. ๐๐
