Springwell Veterinary Surgery
Springwell Veterinary Surgery was established in 1985. It has been developed since then into a fully equipped premises capable of meeting all the needs of small animals throughout Tring and District. Springwell Veterinary Surgery is family owned and does not subscibe to the "corporate" model of doing business.

Twenty five percent of our procedures are performed endosurgically (keyhole) or endoscopically. Springwell Veterinary Surgery is Accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The Practice Standards Scheme is a voluntary initiative - not all practices are part of it yet. As a client of the Springwell Veterinary Surgery, an RCVS accredited practice, you can rest assured of a high quality of care throughout the practice.
Services
At Springwell Veterinary Surgery we have a video endoscopic suite in which we can perform investigative and curative procedures. With an array of rigid and flexible telescopes we can "look within" any natural opening, or if necessary through surgical ports. We can then take samples for diagnosis, administer treatments locally and remove foreign bodies.
Springwell Veterinary Surgery is unique locally, in being able to offer the option of performing Endoscopic "Keyhole" surgery. This is a minimally invasive alternative to many procedures traditionally performed by open surgery.

By performing procedures endoscopically our patients can benefit from all of the advantages that we see in our laparoscopic spays, including rapid recovery times, absence of pain, easy wound management and reduction in the use of perioperative antibiotics.Endoscopic surgery is performed with the use of video endoscopic telescopes and specially designed instrumentation.
We do not offer the latter procedure, because we do not see such large benefits as with the keyhole procedure. With this in mind, we have heavily discounted keyhole spaying to make it affordable. The cost is increased above the standard fee, currently by 119 + VAT to reflect the equipment costs.

Ovariectomy vs. Ovariohysterectomy (Removal of ovaries vs. removal of the ovaries and uterus) To maximize the aforementioned benefits, our preference is to perform the ovariectomy. There are no medical disadvantages to this procedure, although currently it is novel in the UK. Once these medications have taken effect, a vet and nurse will administer the anaesthetic injection into the leg vein.
Clinics offered include nail clipping, worming and flea prevention, weight monitoring, re-bandaging, routine healthcare advice, dietary advice, stitch removal, administering medication when help is needed. We have three dedicated operating theatres for carrying out surgery. Heat mats and deep bedding are used to keep animals warm during procedures, and appropriate levels of pain relief are administered where necessary.
For the provision of prescription only medicines, we have to fulfil a legal obligation to monitor cases requiring these. Intervals between examinations are decided on a case by case basis according to the condition being treated, the medicine used and the stability of the condition. In no cases may this period exceed one year.

We changed to this vets after being failed by another and when I say these guys are incredible, they really are incredible. Reception staff are lovely and so helpful, the veterinary nurses have fallen in love with our boy, have taken the time to get to know him and have been so reassuring during recent treatments which as an anxiety ridden cat mum has been a godsend. And Patrick really has saved our kitty from lots of pain and he is now on the road to recovery. Visiting a vet is never a great experience but these guys certainly make it as good as it can be. Have been using this vets for the last 5 months, not a negative word to be said against them.
They are always very welcoming and hospitable to not just us, but our dog. Having to recently get staples/stitches they made the unnerving experience worry-free at a very reasonable price.
Although each visit we have had a different vet they are all clued up with every aspect of our pet.
Highly recommend

I had a terrible experience with this vet and would strongly advise against using their services. I took our dog in for a hip and elbow x-ray. Here are the 3 reasons why I advise anyone to avoid them!
1. They quoted less than £400 on the phone and then charged me £518 when I came to pay. When I asked them to stick to what I was quoted they agreed, but wouldn't release the x-ray results until I paid the full amount. It was completely unprofessional and extortionary behaviour. It's also way more than any of the other vets quoted for the same procedure.
2. The quality of the x-ray was substandard

I was most impressed with Springwell Vets they recently neutered my dog for me. Facilities were spotless and extensive they have in house blood analysis and an x ray machine. Staff were positive, friendly and caring and took the time to explain everything to me. You may be able to find cheaper but think about it before you take a chance on your pets safety, personally I would return here without hesitation.

A friendly Vets practice, situated in Western Road, parking at the rear and also on the road outside. Out of hours is now not dealt with at the practice and you have to take your animal some miles away. Convenient opening hours, as with all vets treatment is expensive but we were more than happy with the caring attitude when we had an animal taken ill over Xmas a few years ago. Receptionists are always polite and friendly and the vets always caring but professional.
We have changed our practice now but more for convenience than any other reason.
