Set in the little village of Penny Bridge, on the outskirts of Ulverston, we were previously known as Greenodd Pre-school. Penny Bridge Nursery is now a privately run, for non-profit nursery and out of school club for children aged 2-11 years old. Our purpose built building offers a perfect early years experience and fun engaging wrap around care for children.

We are open from 7.45am until 6pm all year round. We are regulated and registered by Ofsted. The learning environment is wonderfully stimulating, particularly outdoors. Staff create vibrant and innovative areas rich in exciting and engaging resources, such as the mud kitchen, science lab and minibeast hut.
Services
Outside of the 'Academic Nursery Sessions' we provide Breakfast, After school and Holiday club. We have an 'keep the outside door open policy' which means children free flow between outside and inside all day long (even in the rain). We have lots of activities available throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom to support our children to thrive, learn and create.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.
We offer a range of activities aimed at younger children including sensory play and heuristic play. We also have focused activities throughout the day and each child's key worker carries out individual planning around a child's next steps to support and ensure they are making rapid progress. We ensure we are addressing both the needs of the preschool children and the nursery children.
We are very keen at Penny Bridge Nursery in ensuring that our Preschoolers are ready to transition to Reception. Challenging activities created to get their mind thinking and using Literacy, Mathematical and Physical skills are available everyday and we always encourage all the pre-schoolers to participate in these planned activities.
Our school lunches are provided by a company called Dolce. The company comes highly recommended, they use local suppliers and cook meals from scratch using fresh produce. Children will be a given a choice of meals each day, these can either be ordered at home or at Nursery that day (before 9.30am) using a special on-line ordering system.
