At Sandcastles we believe that young children develop and learn best through play and first-hand experiences shared with other children and supportive adults. All aspects of development and learning are interlinked, children are born with brains and bodies ready to learn and move in increasingly complex and co-ordinated ways.

5 We contact you to offer your child a place, confirming attendance, start date, phone meeting appointment and induction week. 7) You watch our induction video (repeatedly) with your child and position our team photos prominently in your home - making time to chat to your child about our staff. 8 Your child attends Sandcastles for a series of short induction sessions before commencing their agreed attendance.
Over the coming weeks I'll be responding to many of our most frequently asked questions aiming to explain our philosophy. We teach through play, sometimes we (adults) join children in their play, sometimes we suggest play and at other times we watch with admiration as children develop their ideas in groups or perfect skills through focused repetition.

As a small privately owned nursery we are constantly adapting our practice to best meet the needs of our children and their families if you have any suggestions or expertise you'd like to share which might be helpful in further shaping our policies we'd love to hear from you.
Our Beach school sessions run every week year round and are available at no additional charge to preschool children booked to attend on Monday DAY sessions. We invite the same group of children each week for term long blocks to enable children to fully experience the changing environment. Our Beach School sessions are led by Helen Baines our specialist Marine Biologist, Beach School leader.

My daughter has loved her time at sandcastles nursery. The staff have all been so supportive and caring in what has been a very challenging year, and take a genuine interest in each child. It's been lovely watching her grow and develop whilst in their care, and I feel like she is now ready for school thanks to her time with them. We will both miss them very much. I highly recommend sandcastles.
