When we enter the classroom in the morning we have some different opportunities to warm our hands and fingers up for the day. These activities also help to improve our fine motor skills to support our handwriting! Here are a couple of activities we do in class 1. We are beginning to introduce opportunities for writing within our continuous provision areas.
Year 3 have observed rocks closely and discovered that they have different qualities and features. They then had to group them in different ways according to their observable features. We then had to try and remember the name of 6 common rocks. We have planted a range of sunflowers today. We've been identifying the parts of a flower, the function of each part and understanding what a plant needs to grow.
Today we look at the particle structure of solids, liquids and gas. After looking at solids and liquids last week, we changed our focus to gas. We discussed how they differ and completed an experiment, which demonstrated the movement of gas. As we know, gas get's everywhere! The children made some brilliant well thought out predictions and talked about why it might not have worked!
This week in Science we have been recapping the order of the planets and how they orbit the sun. We used a range of materials to create a model to display this and ensured the size and order of the planets were factually correct. This week in RE we have been learning the origins of the religion of Sikhism.
Year 6 have been busy this morning our bags and soaking up the last day of our residential trip, but the fun is not over just yet we've still got a morning full of activities before we head back to school. For one of our morning activities we have been taking part in a series of activities designed to stimulate the senses in the environment in inventive and interactive ways.
